The Blues Brothers
Wow, it's been a long time since I've seen this movie. Funny, sure, catchy music for sure, star studded to the extreme (a performance of "Minnie The Moocher" by Cab Calloway himself? You kidding?) but damn, think about how much PRODUCTION went into this freakin' movie. The Dark Knight movies don't use as many cops or damage as many cars or the amount of action and destruction that litter this entire movie, it's insane at a level that you never see. I mean, the big event movies now cost way more than this movie yet you never see "all out" quite like this, you know? And you NEVER see that amount of extras, EVER.
And I will say, the movie was affective enough that, until John Belushi took his glasses off, I never noticed we hadn't seen their eyes the entire flick. Only a great director could pull that off.
And I can't believe that Paul Reubens slipped in there, or that Charles Napier (the Col from the Austin Powers movies) is the leader of the Good Old Boys or that the leader of the Illinois Nazis is the "Outrageous" judge from Boston Legal. And I had totally forgotten that John Candy was in there as well.
