I can't wait to hear all your ranting and p*ssing about Twilight.  You suffered through it, you gotta tell us about it.

It was truly a nightmare... Only to be countered with my wife really enjoying it. It just solidly proves we have different tastes. This morning, she turned on a chick flick instead of the news. Bring It On, which I won't complain about cheerleaders, but damn, 6:30 in the morning.

Anyway, Breaking Dawn was incredibly slow... The whole time. It was alla bout long slow episodes of people, wolves, vampires telling and showing how they love each other. Forgive me if I don't know the story, but I don't care, and didn't really need to. The dialog was just mind numbing.

And I hate to be judgemental with attractiveness, but damn, this movie is filled with some ugly ass folks. Even the leads werer rather fugly.

I get where the young girls just eat this up. The beginning with the wedding took like an hour.

I completely phased out after the 'honeymoon'.

I told my wife she is on her own to watch part 2. No way I'm Gona sit through another one of those.

Phuck me

Not likely to happen if you don't watch Part 2 with her.  ;D

I think they did a "How Did This Get Made" about Breaking Dawn.  Those guy's will probably make you feel better about having to sit through the bloody thing (or bloodless thing, I dunno).

People talking about how they feel in movies drives me up the wall, it's the total opposite of everything we've been taught: show, don't tell.  You could really go into some "An Education" territory with this premise, younger girl hooks up with a much older guy, throw in some analogues for addiction and withdrawal and so on... I could conceive of some truly juicy potential with that idea.

Also, I recall the Simpsons doing a pretty cute parody of the franchise... with the rather humourous casting of Daniel Radcliffe as Edward:

As for what I've been watching, I needed something last night and wound up watching "The Man From Hollywood," Quentin Tarantino's section of "The Four Rooms."  Hadn't seen it in a dog's age, forgot how much I like it and how much QT was able to get from the simple premise of "drunk idiots want to do something dangerous they saw on TV."  I get the impression from the long takes and the fact that Tarantino himself is doing most of the talking that this was a quick turnaround, which is cool, but it's making me wish we had more short films of his.

Good Day To Die Hard

By far the weakest in the series... story wise. They have gone to the edge and then jumped, especially in believability. I say this because the first Die Hard was fully successful, because you believed John McClane was the Joe Average in an extraordinary situation. Good Day just make McClane do superhuman things more than the others.

If you go into this and just look at it as a summer tent pole and ignore the past, it becomes an action packed loud movie, with a sliver of a story line you might want to follow.

I think we've just seen the most intense car chase on celluloid. Ronin has the best, but Good Day has more carnage. It's pretty amazing really.

The one thing that kind of irritated me was the constant reminder or use of McClane saying he's a Dad. The focus on that was one one time to often and lost it's humor real quick.

Still very much looking forward to seeing Good Day To Die Hard, but even before reading your review, I didn't have high expectations for this.

I kinda feel like after Mission Impossible Four that the whole spy operation and so on was done well enough to tide us over for a while. I got NO interest in seeing the new one, I had to suffer through the fourth one and I can't believe that got people willing to cut a check out for a fifth.  I'm much more interested in seeing Bruno in GI Joe.  Actually, I'm more interested in seeing him in another Looper or "real" film but we may not get another one of them for a while.

Watching the first disc of the Newsroom.  I like it but it's not up to par with The Social Network or The West Wing.  I'm REALLY curious to see what they'll do in a year or two with the reporter phone tapping and NSA spying and so on, that'll be a GREAT arc.  And Allison Pill... so cute!

The wife and I really enjoy Newsroom. All very interesting characters. Jeff Daniels is quite the person to deal with.

Allison Pill... too much forehead  :P

Chip... I said FOREhead.... nothing else.

My issue will Pill is that she dresses so frumpy on the show, she literally looks like she's from another show and they just popped her into that one.  Otherwise I like her, but honestly, there are some episodes where I just want Jeff Daniels monologuing.  But I do like his whole thing of being a nice guy with a "heart the size of a Range Rover" but being intensely personal and with this big barrier around himself so everyone thinks he's an ****.  I also do dig that the ultimate Capra-esque American is the one with the British accent (they do point out she's a natural born American citizen in the first episode).

My other issue is that the opening titles go on WAY too g/d long and that the captions in the show look crummy compared to the title design IN the opening credits.  But that's me being a typeface snob.
