I'm gonna see about requesting that I get added early for future DVD releases. I hate having to keep looking and finding out that I'm already late to the party. Let the damn library do all the work!!

Just might work.

You know, I was either going to try to figure out or ask the library tech, if there is some way to alert me when they add something new to the system.

Europa Report

A found footage genre of film where a crew attempt to explore further reaches of the solar system by going to one of Jupiter’s moons… Europa. The film is cobbled together from all the observing camera’s. For the first time, this found footage is done in a way that doesn’t frustrate the viewer. This is not Gravity with eye candy footage. There is some impressive scenes and it all looks very authentic, to give it that science look over the science fiction look.

There can be some comparison’s to Apollo 18, a sci-fi/horror movies from a little while back, but the comparison is only in the space ship look and feel. Besides the last minute or two, do not depend on Europa Report to Sci-Fi fantasy. Europa Report is a slow methodical flick, with some pretty good moments of tension. But I feel with the found footage aspect dulls the tension quite a bit with extreme close-ups, fuzzy camera perspectives and general editing, where the viewer has to try to figure out what is going on.

I think Europa Report did a fantastic job of providing a realistic adventure to deep space.

It's a day too soon for me to watch Horror flicks (though I found my rental of Chronos didn't work in my room's blu-ray player.  Might have to upgrade the stupid software, I hate doing that).

I did watch "This Is The End."  Love the level of utter creep that Michael Cera played at-- and Emma Watson is so f'in' adorable.

Don't let Mac hear you say it's "too soon for Horror". It could get ugly.  ;D

Well, there's only a few horror movies and types that I like, I wanna make sure I don't shoot my wad too soon.  I usually just wait until the 13th(since it's my bro's birthday, and he loves and acts in horror movies, it seems like a pretty good date).

Nah, that sounds like a great reason for that date.

After Earth

As someone simply and clearly said... Everything that could go wrong with this movie was here. Story, casting, CGI, acting, direction.

I knew going in, it did not get received well. In fact, it was so low on my priorities, I had it sitting there for a whole week and pretty much forgot about it.

Anyway, I did slip it in and from the first frame, I got a bad feeling. When pubescent Jaden Smith is doing the voice over, it sounds so wrong. Then it just continues to slip from there. This is Will Smith story and he is seriously miscasts himself as Cypher Raige, a person with zero personality, with a cringe on his face and ice cold to his son. Jaden character is 1 dimensional, and he can't even pull that off. He's wimpering and whining most of the time.

Otherwise the majority of this story is standard son trying to connect with dad in the environment of running through the jungle. Cypher literally sits in one place (his legs are broken) and does little else.

Some CGI is good, other times it's obvious.

By now we all know this project was Will Smiths desire to send his son to stardom. I doubt After Earth has tarnished Will Smith, but it sure seems a huge set back for Jaden and M. Night.

Bottom line, a very forgettable film. You don't care about any of the characters, so why would I want to ever think about revisiting this film.

The general consensus is After Earth is a turd and I completely agree.

Suggestion for Will Smith. Do what you know. Work with directors and shape your talent. I think Will Smith misfired big time and all perspectives with this project.

I've heard nothing but bad reviews about this. So, will this once and for all banish M. Night behind the counter where he can work in a video store and reminisce with customers about how he was once the "Golden Child" of Hollywood? Seriously, get this hack out of Hollywood. He is doing more harm than good to the medium that he professes to love. He peaked with The Sixth Sense. Why won't he just go away? With that said, the critical drubbing that After Earth is getting is making it hard for me to not check this out for myself.
