Oh, did I forget to mention, full on frontal male nudity with ****s... twice. Yea, it goes there.

Ack! I'll do the laundry at such time.

Netflix -

Apparently bits and pieces that didn't make the final cut... for whatever reason.

Netflix has two actually (Bad Grandpa .5). One is 30 minutes, the other is 89 minutes.

RIO 2
No rating... wasn't for me (adult).

A recent sequel to the much better RIO original. RIO 2 comes off more like a children’s movie that they would crank out for a Saturday morning. It’s pretty apparent from the very beginning about the not appealing to adults too. I’ll say it. A money grab.

I recommend checking out RIO. It was fun and entertaining for adults too. I recommend passing up on RIO 2

Near Dark

We wanted to watch something different than the normal scheduled stuff including the binge watching Lost. I noticed Near Dark in the OnDemand and thought we would both like it. My wife had never seen it. I barely remembered it from when I first saw it.

Well, it might be a cult classic, but I was bored silly. To me it did not age well. For the time, it might have been good. Today.... phfffffttttt. The acting is horrible. Just horrible. The story wasn’t so great either. I was just constantly rolling my eyes how bad this was. We gave it an 50 minutes  and then I determined that was enough and would not get any better.

Casual Sex

We then gave Casual Sex a go. It’s squarely captures it’s time during 1988 with the hair, the music, the dialog. A very light comedy with Lea Thompson and Victoria Jackson. Remember Victoria? It also had Mary Gross from SNL and Andrew Dice Clay. I have never liked the Dice Man. I think his schtickt was good for 15 minutes and then I was done. But I tell you what, the only thing I really laughed at was Dice. He was so ‘that’ douche guy. But yea, it was mindless and not really that entertaining.

Noah (2014)

Admittedly I sat down with Noah expecting a big Ho-hum. I’ve seen the trailers. I’ve seen the CGI spectacle. What I wasn’t expecting from this biblical tale were giant rock creatures (Watchers) that aid Noah in his appointed assignment to build an Ark. Funny how the trailer completely hides this little, er huge detail. The Watchers are a prominent part of this telling of Noah.

My jaw just hit the floor. WTF was I watching? Part of my mind, I’m thinking a tale such as Noah is epic in scope, if you really think about. But it is a short story in the bible. So people have a huge opportunity to fill in the gaps with their own vision. Never in my lifetime would I have envisioned giant rock creatures.

Every frame comes off as an art film. Lots of visionary details, especially in the background. While I do consider Noah a fable and not a true story (I'm sure that's blasphemy to many a Christian), I still was confused at Aronofsky’s telling. In a way I see the fantasy, but I guess I just wasn’t prepared.

I’m not an Aronofsky (Director) fan. Haven’t liked one of his films. Noah is no different. I’m pretty confident I’ll never repeat watching Noah.

A Good Old Fashion O rgy

I forget where I saw the trailer to this little gem, but once I saw it, I sought it out through my library who was able to find it at some small library in the states.

I like Jason Sudekis. His style of humor just makes me grin the whole time. No different in this odd film about a tight group of friends who decide to have the last great party as an o rgy, And surprisingly they do. While there are some few raunchy R-rated moments, this movie leans more into the PG-13 category. A nice balance is maintained without getting ridiculous and consistently maintaining the comedic edge.

While not as good as some of the current classics like 40 Year Old Virgin or Bridesmaids, I really enjoyed A Good Old Fashioned O rgy. I highly recommend to check it out.

Noah (2014)

Wow. This is very disappointing to hear. I've been patiently waiting for my copy to arrive at the library. The air just went out of the balloon. Sigh. Based on what you wrote Mac, it sounds like Noah meets Lord of the Rings.

You know, I was thinking about posting something like that. You're spot on.
