Yellowbrickroad

Wow, totally screwed me out of my 1-1/2 hours of life. This movie blew. Not scary. Little if any action. All psychological and none of it makes sense. The cover is extremely misleading.

Avoid at all costs.

Yo Mac, are you getting all your rentals by way of your local Library? That's what I have been doing lately. I just wish I knew earlier that my Library was doing this before. It was during my book binge that I saw they were carrying **** loads of DVD's. It use to be just VHS, which for obvious reason never appealed to me to check out.

PS, I won't be looking to check out Yellowbrickroad.

Man, I've been promoting my library for a long time. I can get just about anything. They go as far as having a process to query other libraries around the country. Even colleges. It's a goldmine

Soul Surfer

So this looked hopeful in the trailer, but then again, I think I confused it with Blue Crush 2. As we are watching the trailers in the beginning, most of them were from the maker of Fireproof which has  a huge religious slant and message. Unfortunately this had the same. Not overwhelming, but enough to hit you over the head. The acting was very mediocre, but the script was horrible. Despite this based on a true story, there really isn’t much to a story here. Felt I wasted a lot of time on a very bland movie.

The Warrior's Way

What a visual treat. Can't really compare it to anything I've seen before. Each frame is thought out and maximized to tell this graphic story of warrior, who doesn't speak much but has become the best swordsman in the world, escapes with child in tow to America. He happens to stop in a town full of circus folks to give it an even more odd bunch of characters. The pacing is good, the action is excellent. The visuals are amazing.

Looking at rottentomatoes, this is not everyone's cup of tea. But I enjoyed it on many levels. Highly recommend it if your looking for something different.

The Reef

I rather enjoyed The Reef. A small budget but rather high tension engaging film. Very reminiscent of Open Water, but this film kicks up the tension quite a few notches. In fact, once the boat capsizes, the tension really never lets up. While you know what’s coming, I still got involved with the movie because of the characters, the editing, the filming and the music. I recommend at least a rental for shark night movie.

Your Highness

Wow, just wow, and I don’t mean that in a good way. With the talent associated with this movie, you’dathunk this would have something to it. Nothing, nada. I didn’t even grin, let alone laugh. In fact, I turned this off after 45 minutes, it was so lame. I’m sure a lot of money was spent for this waste of celluloid. I highly advise against wasting any time with this turd.
I’m still in shock how bad this was.

The Planet

Ok wow squared. This was uber bad in a MST3K kinda of way. You do not want to watch this in normal view. All kinds of snarkiness needs to be added to this badly acted, bad special effects, bad sci-fi flick. I didn’t even give this 10 minutes. I fast forward through this to confirm it was bad at every turn. Thank goodness, no time lost here.

You sure can pick 'em boy-o!!

It's awesome when you can check out DVD's at your local library. But the downside is, because it's all free, you're objectivity goes way down and are willing to watch stuff that if you had to pay for, you would be more mindful of what you're checking out. It's not just you. It applies to me and everyone else. When money comes out of my wallet, I'm more selective and critical of what I will watch. When it's free....all bets are off.  ;D

Couldn't agree more. It is a different mindset. Gots to go through a lot of garbage to find the diamonds. I figure I've saved myself thousands of dollars with the library.
