What a great movie
Win Win turned out to be. I have heard nothing but great things from a lot of sources and they all sold me on it. Going into the movie I knew nothing about it. Even after hearing all these glowing reviews, I purposely avoided the trailer. I just didn't want to know anything other than "it's a great film". That's it. That's all I knew about it other than
Amy Ryan, who I have been in love with ever since her turn on
The Office's Goodbye, Toby. The other person I knew was in
Win Win was Paul Giamatti from
Shoot 'Em Up.
But there is actually a bigger cast then just these two cats and a really good one at that. It's a wonderful cast with
Jeffery Tambor, Bobby Cannavale, Burt Young, Melanie Lynskey and
Margo Martindale from
Dexter who each bring something good to their roles. But it was
Alex Shaffer as wrestling phenom
Kyle Timmons that steals the movie. I've never seen or heard of him till now, but he did a great job and should have a long career in Hollywood.
Win Win is both funny and heartbreaking at times. The laughs comes from situational comedy and heartbreak comes from a family who's live change with a chance encounter with
Kyle and make each other stronger for knowing one another. The script for this one is smart and witty and feels very real. There is nothing in the film that I would say needed to be cut. It's a great little indie film that I actually would want to see more of as far as sequels are concerned. Won't happen. But still.....
I highly recommend this as a
Rent. But for me, this is definitely a must-
Buy to add to my personal DVD Library.
PS
Amy Ryan is in the movie!!!!!!
