Z for Zachariah (2015)
« on: November 08, 2015, 08:09:48 pm »

I've never read the book for Z for Zachariah. Not only have I never read the book, I've never heard the details of what's inside said book. So I came into this movie with a completely different idea of what the film would be. In my mind, I figured one of two things would manifest itself. 1. The good guy as played by Chiwetel Ejiofor would turn out to be evil or 2. Chris Pine's character would turn out to be some sort of serial killer, turning this into a horror flick of some sort. Kind of a Cabin in the Woods thing given that the setting takes place out in the middle of nowhere during a post-apocalyptic "society" that has a population of 3. It turned out to be neither. What the movie is, is basically Cain and Abel, even though they are not brothers, the plot of fighting for the last surviving woman as played by Margot Robbie is the driving motivation for the film. It's definitely not the movie I thought I was getting, but it's still a decent flick as they explore jealousy when another man shows up and threatens his standing in the eyes of the woman he loves. It;s a slow paced flick, but worth a Rent.
