Five Guys, to me, is a step above Wendy's or McDonalds (which I have once a year, maybe, when an emergency arises and I need something could pass as food).  Five Guys is JUST burgers and dogs and fries, it's very no frills (I mean, why would you decorate a bag that's just gonna be thrown out) and they give you a BUTTLOAD of fries.  Like, they fill a drinky cup with fries, then empty another scoopy shovel of fries in on top.

You have to at least try that, man, I've heard that it rivals In-N-Out although I haven't tried that before (and I'm also a fan of plain burgers, I don't like stuff on my food).

Well, since you said it rivals In-N-Out, which is what I consider to be the best of the Burger Joints, I may just try and get down to Five Guys sometime this week to make that comparison myself.

What's in this $250 hamburger?

This could definitely go in the 'What the F*ck Thread'. Seriously......$250?

Did you ever try 5 Guys?

Anyway, one the Talk guys on the Dave Glover show I listened to, went on about His recent California visit. In particular. He and callers talked about In and Out... Great praise for it. Apparently it just as far east as Arizona.

Ugh

Haven't tried 5 Guys yet. I take it that you've never hit In-N-Out Burger? Not in your neighborhood? I thought for sure it was a Nationwide Chain, given how popular and awesome it is.

I'm gonna be shallow here. Seeing the name In And Out, first glance, sounds like 60's greasy spoon.

I know, I know... I'm bad.

I don't think we have 'em.

Or it could be a reference to how quick the food goes through you.

I'm sure I'll try In-And-Out if I'm ever there, but seeing as I don't like a lot of embellishment on my burgers, I can't imagine I'll get the full experience everyone keeps talking about.  I don't like the spread, sue me!

Speaking of burgers, saw, I believe, a Sunday Morning segment on this niche burger joint in downtown New York. They don’t have condiments and in fact frown on discussion about that kind of thing. Their perspective is the meat brings the noise and altering it with mustard, relish or anything else is sacrilegious. I get it actually. That’s how I feel about my steaks (filet). On the rare occasion, I’ve gone the other direction and ordered filets with cheese topping or an indescribable sauce.

But don't you have Steak Sauce when you eat a hearty steak, etc...? I can't do without it. Same goes for condiments on Hamburgers.

That's the point... You really haven't tasted good meat. In the foodies circle, steak sauce, catsup, condiments in general change the whole taste.

And I'm part of that group that over time have discovered good meat. I was raised in a household where we got steak once in awhile (always meat at every dinner), but it was cheap steak. Actually not very tasty and yes, the thinking was put bar-b-Q sauce or steak sauce to 'enhance' the flavor.

Believe me, when you are served good meat, prepared properly, you will know it. Adding steak sauce you'll realize puts it back to not much more than eating cardboard.

Well that's just stupidity. It's way more than that. I wouldn't want to talk to, let alone associate with someone who admitted to eating a $250 steak. Something is wrong with you. Stupid, retarded, power, egotistical, look at me... something.

Good for you if you can afford it. I don't care. The only thing I care about is to know their are idiots who can and will throw away their money.

This happens in all forms of business. Wine prices, Art, Media (speakers and audio equipment), just to name a few. There comes a point, where you just cannot tell the difference, but money is spent on 'image'.

Phuck that!!!!

I've made no secret about my fondness for Five Guys, and I'm lucky enough to live five minutes from one... so of COURSE it f*cking closed down!  What a revoltin' development.

That sucks dude. Sorry to hear that. Why was it closed down? Wasn't there enough business to keep it going?
