Oh dear god I hope so.  Even with the unfortunate side effect that a TON of people will be disenfranchised this time around, first conservatives having NO nominee (which would probably force a system reboot of the party, which is desperately needs), and the second is the sizable pro-Bernie chunk of the Democratic party that understands the needs for progressive reforms.  I mean, let's be fair, even if Hillary struck a deal with Bernie regarding policy initiatives for supporters, she was probably NEVER going to honor that agreement, but the mission statement of the democratic party would have pointed in a more progressive direction, but that's not going to happen now anyway because she's already beating Trump by a wide enough margin.

Honestly, while my tune might change about Hillary after seeing her in action, it probably won't, and she seems like the last hurrah of the old system.  And with any luck, it'll be a good one, but the two-party system and the parties have just been showing their obsolescence for a while, especially in the last year, so I think Hillary will be the last of the Old Guard before the New Guard come in and Generation X and up start taking their place in the annals of power.

The other thing I forgot to bring up in my previous post has to do with the GOP in general. Much has been said about how Trump has hijacked the party and that everyone has to "fall in line" if they want to win the General. In his mind that would make sense.....if he was a person worth supporting. He uses the threat of the 15 million voters he brought in during the Primary as his 'Trump Card' to strong-arm other Republican Governors, Senators, House Speaker, etc....to back him, or there will be "riots" at the convention. The fact that most (for awhile) were reluctantly endorsing their Republican presumptive Nominee never made any sense to me. Sure, he brought in 15 million, but last I checked, the minimum he would need in the General is in the neighborhood of 65 million. Now factor in his unfavorable's and you are left scratching your head wondering how he is able to constantly threaten the GOP. So, why are all the big Republicans protesting that they are "handcuffed" into backing him when the numbers don't favor a Republican win in November?

Do the f*cking math Paul Ryan. Look at it from the outside and you will see that there is no way Trump is going to win. Period. Just with this knowledge and only this should have snapped them out of their fog that they could and should dump him and refuse to vote for him in the first round. They need to look at this as a lost cause. Embracing this inevitable outcome should free them to finally pull the plug on him in spite of his "threats". Nominate someone else. Who that should be is irrelevant because it's already a loss anyway. They kill and embarass Trump on the grandest stage, get their White Knight and hope for the best and pull out a miracle. Remember, the party needs to just chuck those 15 million and try to appeal to those that never voted during the primary. Stop letting Trump, who has ZERO power from dragging you down when you still have a chance to cut him off at the knees.

All this is for naught anyway since he will decline and Romney (in spite of his "protesting" the last 6 months) will be dropped in as their White Knight as he gladly accepts the nomination.

Given that he probably has zero chance of winning because of the last minute nature of his campaign, I wonder if R Money will actually do it.  He said he didn't want to run again after the Obama campaign, and it's a tough life to go through, especially if there's no chance of victory.

He has no choice but to accept the nomination. He can't spearhead the Never Trump movement and then not step up to the plate, especially since they haven't been able to find anyone willing to do it thus far. Getting a lesser name nominee starts them off in a huge hole financially. Romney has name recognition and can lock up those big donors right out of the gate. You get Joe Schmo and I don't see that many people writing big checks for an unknown. Not that tough. He would only have to slug it out for 5 months instead of a year and a half.

Vanity Fair suggests that Trump's end game might be his own media empire, Trump News.  Makes sense, he's getting exposure on all the news programs, parlaying that into demand for his own channel spouting his own fascist views would be yuge.  Sarah Palin was thinking small with just a reality show.

If there's any silver lining to this, it's that like most of his empires, Trump News will go bankrupt quick.

^^This^^

As soon as you dropped the news about his "Empire", I started laughing. There is no way this succeeds. He will just be a slightly more famous version of Alex Jones. Only with shittier hair.

I liked Seth Meyers idea to offer Trump a 13-episode commitment to a show on NBC where Trump plays the President,. b/c no one really wants him in power but at the same time, we really wanna know what he'd do.

And hey, according to CNN, the RNC is seeing if there's enough anti-Trump support to allow them to deny him the nomination, which... you know they have to.  I wonder if Trump would try to fight that with sheer force of will to sate his own ego, or if he'd bow out first so he can can control the narrative.

A talk show clip, but still a very eye-opening look at who Trump thinks he is vs who he actually is.

Trump Considering Speaking Off Site During His Own Convention

No one will ever make fun of his small hands and micro dick after this. He should be more concerned that he is now and will forever be known as a p*ssy. This guy literally has NO BALLS to show up at the convention. He is spineless, a coward and will do anything to avoid having to get on stage and speak. F*ck this piece of sh*t.

All those speeches, 45 minutes each, all about ONE problem each, and I guarantee if you compiled the whole thing and sifted through it all, there wouldn't be one line of common sense or an actual, sensible proposal.

Think You’ve Got It Locked, Hillary? Meet Jill Stein.

You can add a new entrant into what is already the nuttiest Political cycle ever. I have no idea who Jill Stein is, but I'm all for alternatives coming in and at least giving the people someone else to look at. I hate the idea of having to be choose from the 2 worst candidates ever. The more alternatives there are, the better off we are as a nation are.

It to little, too late. While I whole heartedly we need something different than this 2 party system, it just needed to happen earlier. We kind of reintroduced it with Sanders, and somewhat Trump. At the very least, people are thinking about it.

But ya know, just thinking about more, ANYTHING can happen. We still have lots of time for more twists and turns.

Foreign Policy has an article up about Why Young People are Giving Up "Capitalism."  Nothing particularly news to me, but I appreciate how evocatively written the plight of the younger generation is, explaining exactly why the people feel disillusioned and disaffected by the world and politics at large, and how could anyone expect them to feel any differently?

Wow, just.....wow! I just heard that Bill Clinton and Loretta Lynch both met in secret on his plane. Naturally Lynch is claiming it was all "innocent" and has come out saying "we never talked about Hillary's email issues. All we talked about was about our grand kids". Bullsh*t!  Even if that were true (I don't believe it one bit mind you), but what they talked about is irrelevant in the eyes of public perception. Both knew that this meeting would get out and people would automatically start in with their conspiracy theories and rightly so. Everyone now sees the impropriety of this. The fact that it was "held in secret" is the first tip off that both knew exactly what they were doing and what the public would invariably think of it. She needs to recuse herself from her case immediately because if the FBI does in fact request that Clinton be indicted and Lynch refuses, people, if they aren't already aware of it now, will be crying "rigged system". Just.....wow.
