Okay, this is one that happened to me earlier today:

I had to do my whole section of the store by myself for the last hour, in places where I didn't have much training.  So I've been told when in doubt, call for help.  Makes sense, right?  I've only been there since Thanksgiving, and I get questions that pros here don't know the answer to (I get a lot of weird questions).

Anyway, five minutes in, I get this customer with a very soft voice, thick Spanish/Mexican accent and missing his front four teeth.  VERY hard to anyone to understand him, especially me.  So I call it in and get the typical "look it up" response.  I answer saying "I can't understand what he's saying" and my boss, my F*CKING BOSS calls back, on the radio that every employee in the store can hear, "OH, you want someone to do it FOR you!"

WTF!?  Am I crazy or was that incredibly inappropriate?

Just woke up to the news about the mass shooting in Vegas (50+ Dead, 200+ Wounded). Seriously, what the hell is happening with this planet? Stunned and horrified at the news.

This feels like a real WTF kind of thing... I certainly had that reaction watching, an AI creates new faces.


Just imagine this being used to create background characters (or even main characters) in video games and animated features!  We already have computers that can simulate crowd movements, imagine if they can create crowds!

They also show off the ability to blend other points of reference together, like cars and bedrooms and so on.  This is reminding me of the holodeck from Star Trek, once it learns motif and context you could have a computer create anything for you just based on your description.

This is actually making me really want to draw some mash-up faces... I happen to have a copy of Vogue I got the other day, I'm sure there's some reference in there I could play with.
