I actually ordered the Vizio 2 days ago. 1 Day ago Costco cancelled it with no warning. So, I re-ordered it. So far no cancellation. Just waiting for it to be delivered here. The price point was great, but the idea that I get 3 months to play with it and see if I want it was just an opportunity I couldn't pass up.

I hope you like it, man... but don't turn on that Smart stuff!

And let us know how much you like it, in case we need to upgrade.

I will evaluate and review it for you guys. I will do a "I've had it for a week now and I...." type of review to pinpoint anything that may be bothering me or not. Not sure, but I think in one of the reviews specific to this model they said that a firmware for some feature that wasn't working or whatever it was was needed to fix it and that means I would have to download it and I think it has to do with the "Smart" portion of the TV. But other than that, I really don't need any of the features since I already have a Roku box and plan on using that anyway.

Welcome to the 21st century....  ;D

I would be on the lookout, out of the box, that default smooth image crap.
They may no longer do that.

My dad's TV actually had smooth motion on, I didn't think it was that bad.  Yeah, I know there are aesthetic and artistic reasons not to have it on, but at the same time, the "live" look was interesting, especially watching things I had seen before (Parks and Red).

So, either one of you guys have your TV's on a Wall Mount? One that swivels? Looking at the prices for these makes me want to vomit. It's like you are buying 2 TV's instead of one. The average cost that I'm seeing is for around $150 new. I'm now looking for Used which will cut the cost by half, if not more. So, with that, is this a complicated install procedure or is it as simple as screwing in 4 screws into the wall? Need your advice on this.

Well, the wall has to be able to support the weight, it's probably designed a certain way to be able to bear the load of the set, and the cabling probably has to be done a certain way so it doesn't detach or kink.

My dad has a wall mount, but all my sets are on their stands.

I have my monstrously huge ( I mean, thick & heavy) Sony on a multiracial mount. It pulls out from the wall, tilts left and right by two hands. and I can adjust angle down, by fixed bolts. It just doesn't look like it would hold, but it does  ;D. All of mounts come with weight limits. I can't imagine a TV today being a problem at all.

I got mine from monoprice.com. Very competitive. Do not buy from the big box stores. Way more expensive.

I also bought two wall boxes to allow cabling (power, cable, speakers, red yellow blue media wires. So pretty big opening. Behind the TV and down below (8 inches above floor, behind cabinet).

I bought the extendable because I have a water turn off I have to get too twice a year.

My TV arrived a couple of hours ago. Took some time to hook everything up. I'll get to the good stuff right now. Playing my Xbox via HDMI is INSANE! I've never seen such glorious picture quality. On my old TV, the text on the screen was tiny and blurry as f*ck, which made reading it next to impossible. I always thought the problem was with Rockstar (the creator of GTA). Well, NOW I can read it without trying. Ack! The visuals are stunning. I thought the game looked good before, but this is ridiculous.

Okay, now for the bad. My audio sounds like sh*t. I mean it's really bad to the point that I don't even want to watch TV at all. Really not sure what the deal is. I don't think it's an issue with the TV but with my Receiver. What's odd is that I had the perfect sound with my last TV. I was immensely satisfied with what I got. But now, it's complete garbage. I've gone through every iteration of what to do and nothing is working. Gonna scour around online and see if their are any fixes that I can do.

One thing I notice is that the HDMI channel I have dedicated to Xbox automatically was at 1080p, hence the stunning visuals. The HDMI channel I have for Roku looks incredibly soft as it's only 720. Not sure if that is automatic since it's a streaming box. But I can't find where I can bump it up to 1080 if I have the option to do so.

Okay, an update on my Audio situation. I think I've figured out the problem. Kinda. Prior to disassembling my Home Theater setup from my 15 Year old Sony TV, I took plenty of pictures of all the connections I had (Xbox, DVD, VCR, Reciever). Everything was labeled and photographyed meticulously. So, when putting everyhtng back together on the new TV, everything was working except the audio. I tried everything I could think of. Swaped out one set of cables for the next and nothing. It wasn't until I moved the connections to the Auxiliary Channel did everything seemed to correct itself. This was going against what my pictures were telling me. Prior to getting my 15 year old TV, I had it on Auxiliary. But once I had the Sony TV, that channel no longer worked and that's when I had to move it to Phono Channel. So, the opposite seems to be working for the Vizio now. I'm still tweaking the Bass and Treble to find that sweet spot. But already the sound is a million times better than what it was. I was really sweating it today because I started looking at what it was going to cost for a new receiver and I didn't want to have to spend another chunk of change right now.

Samsung's 8K Glasses-Free 3D TV Blew Our Minds - CES 2015

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9STBsPHIEPA

I totally forgot to post this a few weeks back. I got so caught up watching all the segments at this years CES and this one in particular slipped my mind. Anyway, it's cool that 8k exist, but this is just way too soon. With hardly any content for 4k, why start hyping 8k now?

It's because you lose half the resolution when you display an image in 3D, a 4K TV in 3D only gives you about 2K or traditional 1080 in each eye (and you can start to see the jagged edges and so on), so 8K in two eyes would basically be theater quality image in each eye.

You know, the OS is open source so you can replace it if you want to try that.  Also, you can just not connect it to the internet.  Or if you're really gutsy, go in and remove the mike.  But seriously, screw all these people who put eavesdropping mikes into products.
