I have a hard time watching TV without headphones on, I'm actually kicking myself for not looking for wireless ones for the living room set last time I was at Best Buy. I'll be doing that when I go looking for Blu-Rays in a few weeks (gotta get that new Game Of Thrones season, you know). So headphones for the eys, they'd be great.
My take on the motion smoothing is this: I was actually pretty down on the tech when I first saw it, I thought the same thing everyone else did, the whole "security camera" looking "soap opera" thing. But then I went to Universal Studios and did the rides, and now the motion smoothing to me looks like a big amusement park ride. And even though I thought (especially on the big screen) that the camera movements and cutting were way too fast, I felt like I was actually IN Middle Earth when I saw the first Hobbit movie. SO sharp, so real. I saw clips of Avengers and Transformers 2 in motion smoothing on big plasma TVs and it felt like I could reach out and touch it, it didn't feel like I was watching frames as a fast rate, it felt like I was looking through a window. It was more 3D than putting the glasses on to me. And Transformers 2, I actually had a sense of the robots being physical objects and not digital schmultz on the screen, I can't stress this enough: it made Michael Bay's garbage look decent.
I might not have it on all the time if I actually got it (I don't know how I'd feel about it long-term), but for now, I'm more than willing to give it a shot because it lets me see movies in a different light, and I'm all about that.
