Re: Transfer VHS Tapes To Your Computer

So, my 8mm Video camera arrived a couple of days ago. Spent all last night trying to get it to work yesterday. No , power, no nothing. Battery couldn't hold a charge and plugging the charger into Camera didn't work. Figured I just got duped by a seller on eBay. Rather than losing my cool, I just kept messing around this morning with different cables (mine, not his), trying different Batteries (mine, not his) and finally get the camera up and running. Since I don't have a specific cable that's needed to transfer to my Computer, I decided that I might as well transfer the first tape to VHS just in case the camera craps out. So, I just got finished with the first tape and it was surreal. It was from 1998. Cross country road trip that took me to Denver and back, stopping along the way at Grand Canyon, Bryce, Zion, Carlsbad Caverns, Las Vegas and a handful of other spots along the way. But the crown jewel for me was at the beginning and end of the tape showing my Grandpa and Grandma. I got choked up. The scene at the end was totally surprising because I didn't remember it at all and it was video of me and my Grandma carving out a pumpkin together for Halloween. The cost of the camera and the roadblock of getting it to work was worth the price just to see that.

Gonna take a break for a bit before busting out the next 8mm tape to transfer. Sitting through an entire tape is exhausting because there is a lot of shaky cam footage that was making me dizzy. Can't wait to see what's in store next on tape #2.
