Not sure how many. I think it was mentioned in KISS: Behind The Mask and they said something like 2000. Not sure if it was the book or online or even if that number is legit. But I would have thought it would be a higher number to meet the demand of all the arcades around the US and the world for that matter.

The lowest price I've seen it go for was around 5K.

Eventually when we get the basement turned into a media room (which happens after Storm visits doggie heaven), I need to find some good speakers. My Bose 301's from 25 years ago just ain't gonna cut it. The room we are looking at is about 12 X 20. Small, so ran across this review about the Orbs. My wife is all contemporary and if they sound good, these could be the answer.

are you working on saving up?

I know Chip has a fund for a few things...I've got one going (now for the new guitar)  plus some other small amount of cash towards a TV I want to get for my office.

well I hope you get it!

Yea, I've got two funds. But trying to maintain has it's obstacles. The wife loves to spend. After this upcoming vacation. Putting the brakes on spending and getting the savings back in line.

I know the feeling....the TV was a hold over from Christmas...I was given money and told SPEND this on yourself.

a lot of times my little birthday and Christmas cash...goes into stuff like groceries and basically no sort of gift.

I promised I'd buy myself something...and a flat screen tv would really help the space issues in my home studio.

was checking out Les Paul's last night on the Gibson site.....was fun and depressing at the same time

:)

So for complete mindless fun and zero value but to please my visual senses, I ordered the HypnoCube

If these guys get their act together, I may actually might buy the kit and make one myself. If your mildly interested, sign up. The more that sign up they actually might make the kit available.

Aw man, that looks  f u c k i n g  cool!! It reminds me of those Stereo Speakers that would pulsate to the music you were playing, which I wouldn't mind picking up a new set for the year 2012. Not even sure what they were called back then. Bascially take the dance floor from Saturday Night Fever and add it to the front of the Speakers. Anyway, good job Mac.

OK, maybe you guys can help me out here. Actually a few years ago when Ultimate Electronics existed, they had this displayed out front. The wireless patio speaker. It immediately caught my attention. It sounded good.
So now I’m at a place to want to get it. We sit outside a lot and would love to have something more than a tinny small radio.

I see there are really two competing brands out there…
… The Rocketfish Wireless ($189)

Product Features
•   RocketfishTM 2.4GHz, 22-watt wireless speaker with up to 164' wireless range
•   Wireless sender/receiver
•   Auxiliary audio input and output on sender/receiver
•   Weather-resistant speaker design
•   4 Ohms woofer impedance, 8 ohms tweeter impedance
Technical Details
•   Brand Name: Rocketfish
•   Model: RF-RBWS02

Cables To Go Audio Unlimited ($113)

•   2.4 GHz Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum FHSS digital transmission
•   32-Channel scan-tuning between transmitter and receiver
•   Audio output power up to 20 Watts RMS per channel
•   SRS WOW provides deep, rich bass and creates a 3D surround effect to provide a superior audio experience
•   Weather-resistant speaker and remote control
•   Compact weather-resistant speaker is powered by 2.4GHz technology, which guarantees a strong, clear signal up to 150FT away
•   Package Includes: 1 RF Transmitter, 1 RF Speaker, 1 Remote Control, 1 AC Adapter for Transmitter, 1 AC Adapter for Speaker, 1 RCA to RCA Cable, 1 3.5mm to 6.3mm (1/4"") adapter plug and User Manual
•   The system transmitter supports all types audio inputs including RCA inputs for home theater receivers, MP3 players, computers, iPods, iPhones, and iPads.
Technical Details
•   Brand Name: Cables To Go
•   Model: SPK-24GX
•   Color Name: Black
•   Speaker Type: Wireless
•   Height: 13.97 inches
•   Width: 14.96 inches
•   Weight: 9.07 pounds
•   Warranty: 1 Year

I’ve read many reviews on both of them and they seem to be comparable in many ways. I think a con for the Cables to Go is the power switch. And a plus for Rocketfish, someone at least said, the sound and bass were good for the size it is. A con seems to be Rocketfish is almost twice as expensive and can only be found at Best Buy.

Any thoughts on these two or others you may know?
