I own Bad Boys II on DVD, but I remember absolutely nothing. Not one scene triggered a "Oh yeah, I remember that...." Nothing. Nada. Zilch. So, what does that tell ya about this one? I checked the receipt that I kept inside the DVD and it's date 2003. So, I'm guessing I haven't watched it since then. This one wasn't as "funny" as Bad Boys (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/dvd's-blu-rays/bad-boys-(1995)/msg9133/#msg9133), but it does outdo it in the mindless gun fights and blowing  s h i t  up department. This one is definitely bigger, but it doesn't mean it's badder in any way at all. Bigger explosions and a bigger run time. This movie is about 45 minutes too long. The only thing they did right with this one was add Gabrielle Union to the mix, but in the end her role was so underused that it made her irrelevant to the movie.

I do like Will Smith in a lot of other movies, but in this one (as well as the first) I think he is horrible. Overacting bravado just makes him look like a douche. Martin Lawrence wasn't all that funny here and I think a lot of that goes to the script. I was somewhat shocked to see that Ron Shelton had a hand in co-writing this. He is definitely out of his element here given the fact that he is best known for Sports films like Bull Durham ,Tin Cup, White Me Can't Jump and Play It to the Bone (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/dvd's-blu-rays/play-it-to-the-bone-(1999)/msg8970/#msg8970).

This one is a Rent at best if you like things that go BOOM!!
