New Xbox 360 Gears of War Will Be Revealed Next Week (http://kotaku.com/5914605/new-xbox-360-gears-of-war-will-be-revealed-next-week)

E3 is fast approaching. I can't wait to get the official word on the forthcoming Gears game. But it doesn't look like Epic Games will be doing it themselves, which would be a shame.

Added Microsoft E3 2012 Press Conference Teaser

Looks like the story/game is going to be all about Baird and Cole. No Marcus of Dom, which kind of just too the wind out of my sail. I will still get this, but I was hopeful that we'd be getting the entire team.

We've been hearing how this new incarnation of the Gears series was going to be different. Well, that clip sums it all up and I'm looking forward to the game even more!

I just pre-ordered GoW: Judgement. I hope it arrives on the same day it's released (March 19, 2013). But it's most likely not going to get here until March 21. Ack!!

Not sure how far along I am within the campaign mode, but it's taken me a while to get use to the new control mechanics. Everything that I remember from Gears of War 3 doesn't really work anymore. They have change it up quite a bit, forcing you to relearn everything all over again. One thing that I'm not digging right now is how the story is being told. Helo squad is on trial and once they start to tell their side of the story, it kicks into the flashback sequences, triggering the campaign game-play with voice over of the story. It's very confusing to "hear" what they are staying because I am concentrating on the game-play so I don't get blown to bits. So, that means I am missing out on a lot of the story.

I am enjoying the game a lot more today, than I was yesterday that's for sure.

Gears Of War: Judgement

I finished the campaign for Judgement last night. I'm really unsure if I'm okay with what the makers did with the game. It did get better as it went on. But Judgement is NO Gears of War 3. Not even close. Story-wise it just didn't have that epic feel to it that Gears 3 had in spades. Visually, Judgement is just as good, if not better than Gears 3. But one thing that I did not like in this one is the constant Bulletin between each segment telling me what I scored, kills, ribbons, etc...This just made the game come to a screeching halt. All the momentum of the story and game-play would basically end when the menu popped up. They definitely should have had a straight play-though the first time around and then use those menu's when you played through it again. One intersing thing in the game, if you get enough stars (about mid-way through the game), it unlocks....

This is a side mission that actually takes place during Gears 3. The campaign for this one isn't nearly as long as Judgement, but it's infinitely better because it plays just like Gears 3. It just felt better and was more engaging. None of those annoying menus to get in the way. This was a nice bonus addition, but this really should have been a Gears 3 DLC more than anything and given us a much longer Judgement campaign.

Multiplayer
(http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i266/Chiprocks1/Star%20Ratings/HTL_03star.gif)

The addition of Classes in both Overrun and Survival is actually a pretty good idea, allowing you to choose exactly how you want to help your team. You can be an Engineer, a Medic, a Sniper or Supply Ammo. This is all fine and dandy, but adding these 2 types of gameplay modes came at the expense of Horde Mode. It's Horde Mode that I absolutely loved playing in both Gears 2 and especially in Gears 3. The makers of the Judgement say that Survival is the next evolution and what is basically 'Horde' Mode in this one. Wrong. In Horde Mode, you battle against the Locust wave after wave, each getting more and more hectic and chaotic. The kicker is Wave 50 where they throw everything at you.

In Survival, the maps are incredible small and you basically have to stay put and protect the e-holes/generators. You can't stray too far (wandering the map) or you risk allowing Locust to attack. The other thing with Class-based assignments, it takes out the ability to pick up weapons from downed enemies. And there in lies what I think is a fault with the new MP modes. In Horde, I can go anywhere on the map, which is huge to begin with and pick up countless weapons as needed to fend off the oncoming onslaught.

The new Modes are interesting for sure, but they absolutely won't have longevity with me. I'm already kind of over it and missing Horde Mode big time. Unless Epic Games offers some sort of Patch of DLC that would be bring Horde Mode specifically into Judgement, I won't be playing this one nearly as much as I do Gears 3. I will try and get as many Achievements in Judgement, but I will be returning to Gears 3 soon after. I'm at a loss for words hearing about all these reviewers saying that the best thing about Judgement is the Multiplayer. For me, it's the complete opposite.
