I've never played any of the Tomb Raider games, but THIS is about to change now that I have seen the gameplay for TR. It's slick. It looks amazing and one that I can't wait to get my hands on. But it's going to be a long wait as it doesn't come out until March 5, 2013.

I got to play the Demo for Tomb Raider at the San Diego Comic Con and it looks phenomenal!! The environment, the visual the sounds....just awesome! This is the same demo that was at E3 and it was only about 15 minutes long. It was always my intention to pick this game up on release day. Having just played it, I'm gonna try and break into their vaults and steal me a copy of it now. It doesn't come out till March 15, 2013.

Ugh!!

Tomb Raider was the originator....but Uncharted really has taken the ball and ran with it...hopefully this can be as good as those 3 games.

If I had a PS3, I'd be all over Uncharted. I guess I will just have to make do being all over Lara Croft instead. (http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i266/Chiprocks1/Smilies/0%20All%20Smilies/HTL_biggrin.gif)

sadly I'd say Tomb Raider has it's work cut out for it to even come close to being Uncharted.....the second game is like a high water mark for that genre....I couldn't believe how amazing it was.

So, I was waiting for a significant price drop in the game and yesterday Amazon had a really good deal via the Gold Box Special of the day. Ordered it last night and lo and behold the game was on my doorstep this morning. What the hell!? That's what I call fast service. And no, I didn't pay extra for fast 2 day delivery either. Awesome!!

So, I just opened the package to examine the contents and it looks like they sent me the Special Edition version of the game with the Art Book included instead of the Regular Edition. I knew what some of the bonuses were for pre-ordering the game. But the version that was attached to the Gold Box Special was just the Regular Edition of the game with no extras. So, this deal has become an even BETTER deal for me! Wheeeee!! Free Art Book, which by the way looks incredible! Now, just need to find some time to play it tonight.

Playing Tomb Raider right now and loving the environment Lara inhabits. But I am having to adjust to the slower pacing of this one having just come off of the high energy, fast-paced game play of Gears Of War Judgement. Night and day.........

Now THAT was a pleasant surprise. This game more than delivered for me and puts Gears Of War Judgement to shame. First off, Tomb Raider's graphics are phenomenal! Breathtaking! Gorgeous! Love the gameplay mechanics and the environment. But what made this a nice way to spend some time gaming was in how long the campaign took to complete. I don't know exactly how many hours it took to get through it, but it's definitely 4 times longer than GOWJ, which sucked as far as getting bang for you buck out of it. There is no way a AAA game like that should be charging $60 for a game that you can complete in less than 10 hours.

To me, it felt like TR was a good 15 - 20 hours. I'm sure it's far less than that, but I feel like I got my money's worth and that was on Casual Mode. I still get to replay the game on Hard which would make it even longer to complete. If there is one thing I don't like. it's the quick time events which is basically on-screen prompts for button mashing. Other than that minor quibble, I'd give this game 4 stars out of 5 easily. I'm not going to bother with MP. It looks dumb, so I won't waste my time trying it out.

Along with the campaign play for TR, there are lots of challenging puzzle's to figure out when you go cave/tomb dwelling. I'm sure most people can knock them out pretty easily, but I feel a sense of accomplishment figuring them out all on my own with no help whatsoever. I think I have maybe 2-3 Tombs left to find and solve. So, the game is still on-going for me at the moment.

Tomb Raider Art Book

I'm putting this "review" in this thread because the Art Book, as cool as it is, is very small. It's the size of a Video Game Case (DVD Case) and there's only a handful of pages. The paper stock is high quality gloss, so they didn't go the cheap way. It's just that the book comes across more of a teaser to something forthcoming. A game like this, the amount of detail and hours that went into its creation, you have to know there is a lot more art than what they have given us. This 'teaser' is good enough that I will actually seek out the coffee table size book (hopefully) that is sure to come soon if it's not already out.

With the Free Gold Membership this weekend, I decided to go ahead and play a round of MP online. This is easily the worst MP I've ever played. It's beyond horrible, it's atrocious, with not thought to how to design and implement online capabilities into the game. I will NEVER waste my time playing MP for Tomb Raider. I will be sticking with campaign mode for the game from here on out. There's no need to complain about the serious lagging associated with online play. It's the game play itself that really makes it garbage.

Great episode and they were pretty much on point with everything there is within the game. Watching the episode, it makes me want to go back and play it again. They so better have a sequel to this game or I will be insanely p*ssed off at the company that said this was a "failure". Ugh. You sell over 5 million copies of the game and call it a failure? They need to go back and look up the definition of what a failed game is in this day and age.
