Flight later this year

Robert Zemeckis Dir., Denzel Washington starring.

Saw this trailer today and it looks pretty damn cool.

Well, my wife really wanted to see this movie. I did a little pecking around and it is getting good reviews. I still am not a fan of paying good money to watch drama on the big screen. I keep telling myself compromise.

Yes, flight is a drama and it's about addiction. It is not any kind of action movie like the trailer might suggest.

I found watching Flight difficult. It's not uplifting. In fact it's watching a man spiral into oblivion.  Denzel Washington always does a great job and yes this is another great performance. But it's a performance about a very difficult situation. The complexity of the scenario is constantly brought to our attention, by Denzel's character, because he's defending his life and lying his ass off. It affects everyone around him.

I was pretty amazed at how Don Cheadle, as the defending lawyer, also does a great job... at being a stereotypical **** of a lawyer. You want to root for him, but his actions are pretty slimy too.

I see this is getting good vibes and reviews from around the net, and I get it. But I found the 2+ hour movie not very fun and I'll probably never watch it again.

This is definitely on my radar, but it's not something screaming as a must-see-on-a-big-screen flix. I can and will wait for this to hit DVD.
