The Honeymoon is definite over. But we will get to that in just a second. The overall arc for this season will be about Shannon wanting to adopt a child and convincing her family to go along with this new responsibility of raising and caring for someone else. Easier said and done as it seems like everyone is against Shannon doing this. But before they can address whether or not to adopt, there is some unfinished business that needs attending to. Namely Gene's Polaroid collection.
We have all heard the stories about how Gene has photographed pretty much every single chick he has bed dating back to the early 70's. In this episode, Shannon finds a key but doesn't know what the key is to. She confronts him about it and he comes clean that it's to a Safe Deposit Locker in a Bank Vault. It's pretty self explanatory what happens next. Even though they end up burning it, I'm pretty sure Gene has these stashed on a computer somewhere.
How am I coming up with this theory? Well for starters, he was shown carrying 4 oversize briefcases and each page seemes to have about 10 Polaroids per page. I figure each Briefcase holds about a 100-200 images. Multiply that by 4 and add an additional 200 and you get around 1,000, which is well under his proposed greater than 4,000 conquests he has said on numerous occasions.
I have waaaaaaaaaaaay too much time on my hands to be analyzing this s h i t.

He may have burned these "copies", but I can guarantee you they are sitting on a computer over at Paul's house inside the mythic KISS Vault. Actually, I tend to agree with you these aren't the real deal. The guy is a horder if you think about it. He collects EVERYTHING, which means throwing out, let alone burning stuff would be traumatic for him to endure.

it's a clever story line and one of the better fantasies/ legends I think fans have about Gene...so he was smart to incorporate that into the show.
I am sure there's a lot of great memories for him with that stuff

So Shannon is moving forward with the idea of adopting a child, but like all good things on Family Jewels, there are two stories running concurrently. The other arc for this episode is cutting Nick off from the family fortune. Okay, he's not 'cut off' in the sense that he is now broke and homeless because they do give him a big fat check that they had been saving for him his entire life. But he is being shooed out the door and giving him an incentive to get his Rock and Roll pants on and pursuing that if he is truly serious about it.
Shannon and Gene do bring up the idea of adoption in a family meeting to get the kids feelings about what that would entail from everyone. Both Nick and Sophie shoot down the idea rather quickly. It seems they (writers) are making it look like a riff will be forming between Sophie and Shannon the more she pursues adoption thing.

Good episode where we follow Gene and Shannon to a couple of homes to talk with families that have adopted kids and how they were against it at first but soon realize that they couldn't imagine their lives without it. The story with the first family was pretty touching when the Dad talked about how he changed his mind to be on board when the little girl said "pleeeeeeease" when asking for a cookie. That was an awesome story and moment. No one could resist that.
The other half of the episode involved Nick looking for a place to live. Yeah, not exciting to watch on the screen for sure. It's tedious and boring and nothing really comes of it because you have a ton of places to look at before you settle on something....somewhere you actually can see yourself living in.

Not much happened in this episode. The entire episode was Shannon calling and leaving messages for Sophie who was refusing to call back because she is not okay with the idea of her mom pursuing the adoption plan. Passive aggressive anyone? The episode was just okay.

Really not sure what is going on with Sophie or the "writing" of the show. They are painting her as someone that doesn't approve of her mother adopting and giving a child a home to flourish in, yet Sophie herself is running a shelter for kids called Sophie's Place for abused children. So, how does this make sense to ask people to support her place, the kids and what she is doing and yet she is not supporting her mother in wanting to do just that. Bad writing or just a confused person? I will go with bad writing as the culprit here.

So far this season has been pretty bland. There isn't anything remotely entertaining and this episode was more of the same. It's Shannon still trying to convince everyone to get on board with the idea of adoption. They did however throw in the idea that Tracy would give Shannon her fertilized egg. But then she quickly took back her offer. Still a very blah season so far.

This is more like it. Send Shannon and Gene off to Africa under the guise that it's their honeymoon, even if Shannon's real agenda is to reinforce the idea of adopting a kid. At least they are doing something cool like an African safari instead of sitting around talking about adopting all the time.

I commend both Gene and Shannon for shining a light on the situation in Africa. I think more reality shows like this would do a great deal for humanity by exposing people to the problems outside America. All you need is just to get a few people on board and then a few more after that and suddenly you can make a real positive impact and change peoples lives. It was really cool to see Gene meeting some of the kids that he sponsors. Great episode.

Did not like this episode at all and its because it was more of the same. Talking in circles. Shannon wants to adopt, blah blah blah. In the end she decides to pull the plug on the whole idea. I don't think she was ever serious about it. I think this was just a creative idea for the show. I'm okay using it as an idea, but not to drag it all the way to the halfway point of the season and then ending it. Up till now, it's been a very boring topic in the way it was presented on the show because nothing got done and nothing will now.

It took till episode 10 for us to get a vintage Family Jewels episode. This was more like it. Having the family doing something fun and interesting for both them and us the viewer watching the show. Putting on a show for the Vets and doing a pinup poster as well was cool. I'm just glad we are done with this whole adoption thing which was nothing more than filler for half the season with no intention of actually adopting.

So Gene is going on tour with Glenn Hughes, Matt Sorum, Gilby Clarke, Sebastian Bach and Duff Mckagan and Shannon has issues with this because she has to face concerns that Gene is going to stray. At first it seems this episode is all about Shannon's fears and somehow it turns out to be about Nick picking up his father's old habits pertaining to girls. That is, being cavalier about their feelings and just moving onto the next one. Next episode should be good.

Interesting episode that has Nick discussing his concerns about how much like his father he may have in him when it comes to bouncing from girl to girl to girl. While he is baring his soul, the episode juxtaposition his scenes with Gene on tour in Brazil with the Rock & Roll All-Stars and how he "f u c k e d " up by signing a groupies ass. I don't think it was as bad as the editors of the show were hoping to make it look. They needed something to drive the "plot" of the episode and have Shannon react negatively to it.
