Epic. This is how you start a new season, coming off Season 1 that was basically still trying to win over fans from the original series. I was already a fan, so this doesn't apply to me. But yeah, The Dundies gives us the ultimate awards show, hosted by Michael Scott. So many great moments. We get to see Ping, a very offensive caricature of Asians as performed by Michael to a very drunk (and funny) Pam to Jim and Pam kissing. Awesome episode. One thing fans of the series will know is that there is no background music of any kind and certainly no soundtrack, i.e. songs to pepper each episode with. So, on the very rare occasion that there is a song in an episode, it's usually very profound and odd when it presents itself. Off the top of my head I can only recall maybe 3-4 episodes over seven seasons that have songs in them. In this one, they went with Tiny Dancer as a callback to when Michael was singing Tiny Dundies.

Classic episode that just keeps getting better and better each time I watch it. The title of the episode alone says it all. If you think that this was going to be a watered down Office episode because it was on Prime Time when it aired, you are in for a rude awakening. I remember the night it aired and even I was stunned by how "graphic" it would get when it came to dialog. They really did push the envelope here, but there was one moment that really drove home the idea that anything goes. When Michael says the word 'Boner' when consoling Phyllis, I was and still am shocked that it got by the censors board. No, I'm not offended, but I do know what can and can't get on the air these days, so when the word dropped, it got a reaction from me and probably most of the country as well.

Love the episode in spite of it having the one Office character I hate more than any other: Todd Packer. Jim said it best, "What has to thumbs and hates Todd Packer? This Guy!"

With the London 2012 Summer Olympics (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/sports/london-2012-olympics-(summer)/msg10883/#msg10883) in full swing right now, it's only fitting that I'd run into the Office Olympics episode. This is what happens when the Boss, Michael Scott is out of the Office and the employees look for ways to entertain themselves. Who hasn't done this before? These types of days at work were the best. This is only half the equation for the episode. The other half has to do with Michael becoming a homeowner. Very good episode that gets better with age.

This is also the first appearance by Carol (Nancy Walls) who is the Realtor that is closing the deal on Michael's Condo. Also, for those that don't know, Nancy and Steve Carell are married in real life.

One thing I noticed while watching this one is there is still an unnamed employee in the background. I wish I knew who the actress is. She can be seen in the Office setting during the Closing Ceremonies. She can be seen in the 2nd to last Screencap. If you are looking at the Screencap, she is to the left of Toby.

The bulk of the episode takes place out in the Dunder Mifflin parking lot after someone (Ryan) starts a fire. It's not revealed till the end who did start the fire and how it was started. But the humor comes from Jim's Desert Island game with the rest of his fellow employees and Michael takes it upon himself to "teach" a thing or two about Business to Ryan. It's painful watching his own delusional mind at work here. But very funny too.

Also, Amy Adams returns as Katy, who was last seen in Hot Girl (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/dvd's-blu-rays/the-office-(season-1-2005)/msg11140/#msg11140) from Season 1.

Creed finally gets a scene, front and center as Michael looks to fire him as demanded by corporate. And right from the get go we see Creed in all his glory as he is able to manipulate Michael to firing Devon instead. Dwight was very good in his role as Sith Lord as he tries to get other people fired. Loved the prank that Pam and Jim pull on him. Great episode. I didn't realize that Hank the Security Guard was in place as early as Season 2. Haven't noticed him in any of the previous episodes, so I'm guessing this in in fact his first appearance on The Office.

Awesome cold opening that saw Jim pulling a prank on Dwight by moving his desk to the Men's room. How do you end this scene? Simply put, you have Dwight tell Kevin to wash his hands upon leaving the stall. Classic from start to finish. This one basically revolves around Michael and Dwight "fighting" at the local Dojo. Dwight is intent on proving to everyone in the Office that he can back up what he says about his "karate" skills and Michael is out to prove to everyone that his "street" skills are far more superior.

The scene with Jim and Pam and their awkward moment really hit home. She completely forgets that she is enjoying his company when he playfully lifts her off her feet (and most of her shirt). It's only when Pam realizes what the other people in attendance and their take on the moment is to them, does she freak out.

Very funny and entertaining episode. Love it!!

Another sighting of the 'nameless' actress as seen in the second from the bottom Screencap. Bah! Someone tell me who this is!!

One of the most memorable episodes ever. First off, this is the one that introduces us to Michael Scott's movie, staring himself as Michael Scarn. Sure, it's only a script that Pam found, but some of the scenes that are being read at a table reading with the rest of the employee's is damn funny. It would take till Season 7 before we would actually get to see Threat Level Midnight (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/dvd's-blu-rays/the-office-(season-7-2010)/msg10794/#msg10794) in all its awesome glory. Well worth the wait.

Also making this a great episode was guest star Tim Meadows as the 'client' that Michael and Jan are working hard to nab. They get him, they save their branch. Well, it was a success, so much so that both Michael and Jan lock lips and start us down a crazy road between these two that would give us some of the best moments in the series.

Jim and Pam have their little moment as well. It's more innocent but said a lot more with them sharing dinner (by candlelight), a show (Threat Level Midnight table reading) and fireworks (courtesy Dwight) as well as dancing (more like swaying).

Awesome Blossom indeed!!

If you want uncomfortable, you've come to the right place. Michael's self delusion has reached epic proportions as he has built up the kiss that he and Jan shared into something earth shattering and that they now have a "relationship". Even in the face of cold hard facts with her telling him there is nothing between them, he still doesn't get it. Very awkward. Loved the 'suggestion box' conference meeting with the other employees. Coffee breath and B.O. Hahahaha. Awesome!

I absolutely love this episode and have since the day it premiered. Definitely one of my all time favorite episodes of The Office. It feels like you are getting a lot of bang for your buck in this one with 3 separate stories. The first is Michael reading his employees emails and learning of a party that Jim is throwing, but not being invited to. The second is Jim's actual party with the gang all there....including the IT Guy. The third is Michael's Improv class that he is attending and the "go to" Improv is just hilarious. When he continually shoots everyone, I can never not laugh.

This was also a big moment for 2 other characters in that Dwight and Angela hook up for the first time, leading to a long running arc for the both of them as a secret couple.

I've always liked this episode, but it has rubbed me the wrong way, even going back to the first time it aired on broadcast TV. Namely, it's the 'Yankee Swap' part of the "party". I think it's very mean, especially toward Phyllis and the blame lays squarely on Michael's shoulders and his need to "trick" someone else into taking the present she made for him. Michael can be a very lovable, albeit dense character, but he really has a very narrow sense of reality and thinks that whatever he says and does it's okay by society. In spite of this mean spirited scene, it's a classic episode that basically laid the groundwork for future Christmas episodes.

This episode is definitely in my Top 5 of all time Office episodes. Some iconic and very funny scenes play out, the biggest being Michael's dance routine which had to be done to match that of the original done by Ricky Gervais in the original BBC Office. They two can't be compared, but Steve Carell did is best and his movies are now legendary. This is the one where the entire gang heads out on a booze cruise on the lake as part of Michael's motivational presentation. Doesn't quite work out that way.

Also, Jim feels it's time to come clean and tell Pam how he really feels about her. He doesn't quite get there with Roy finally setting a date for his wedding with Pam. This sets off a chain reaction where he breaks up with Katy (Amy Adams) and spills his guts to Michael of all people. Big mistake. Loved the cold opening with Jim's prank consisting of putting all of Dwight's personal effects into the vending machine. One of the series best pranks by far.

Jim said it best. "I want to clamp Michael's face in a George Foreman Grill". Michael's self-absorbed, whiny, tantrum reaction toward everyone in the Office reaches epic proportions when he tries to make other's accept that him burning his foot on a Foreman Grill is on par with an actual disability. And when he basically insults Billy, the'guest-speaker' who is wheelchair bound, that's when Jim says what everyone in the Office and those across the land watching this episode want to say to his face.

Needless to say, Michael doesn't react favorably when the others in the Office show more concern toward Dwight, who had suffered a concussion earlier in the day when he went to pick up the whining Michael from home. This was definitely Rainn Wilson's episode as he owned it.

Very uncomfortable and very funny to watch.

So, two big things come out in this episode. First, Michael can't keep the sercret that Jim told him about his crush on Pam. And second, Dwight, investigating Oscar and his sick call, the viewer learns he is gay. Now back to the main story. Watching Michael literally turn himself into a Jim clone by messing up his own hair always makes me laugh. He is trying so hard to make his "friendship" with Jim a reality that he will go to such lengths to sell himself and others on the lie. We all knew that he wouldn't be able to keep the secret to himself, so it became a guessing game in how he was going to get tripped up and spill it.

Toby! It's always Toby!!

We think that Jim is out of the water when he confronts Pam to tell her that the crush was 3 years prior and that everything is cool now. But leave it to Michael to screw it up once again (to our benefit) when he lets slip to Pam that he still has a crush on her. So when, watching Jim and Pam walking out of the Office into the elevator, the adoring, but awkward look she is giving him speaks louder than anything she could ever say. It was thunderous.

As for the other story arc, watching Dwight go to such great lengths to investigate Oscar and whether or not he is sick just shows just how anal Dwight is about not just work-realted things, but life in general. Who takes this  s h i t  so serious to interview people about Oscar being sick? How does this have any bearing on anything? And that is why Dwight is so much fun to watch.

P.S.

What's up dog?

Haha. Watch the episode to find out what that refers to,

Ths entire episode is basically about Michael and his theory that one of those that work in The Office took a dump on his Office carpet and is a form of retaliation toward him....a possible 'hate crime'. Well, he hated the crime anyway. Haha. Very funny. So, with Michael's office being cleaned out, he sets up shop at Jim's desk, which forces him back to the annex to sit with Kelly, who uses him to ask out Ryan for her. Talk about a domino effect. With Jim's banishment to the back, it also mirrors how he is feeling toward Pam. There is a weird vibe that between the two, in his mind, ever since she found out he has a crush on her.

All is well when he checks his voice mail to get 7 unanswered messages from her. A great feeling for sure. FYI, it was Todd Packer that left the present on Michael's carpet, which made him so happy. Seriously, how can anyone be friends with Packer? He had no redeeming qualities as a human, It's clear that Michael is so desperate for friends that he would naturally accepts Packer as a "friend".

Interesting thing I just now noticed about this episode, one that I've watch quite a few times over the years. I didn't realize who Jim was asking out on a date on the phone (with Kelly listening in). He asked out Brenda (Brenda Withers) who had only 1 appearance on the show and that was a couple of episodes back in the Booze Cruise episode. I never put 2 and 2 together till just now. D'oh!

Boys and Girls refers to the division (for the day) between both sexes in the work place. Jan has a 'girls only' meeting and this doesn't sit well with Michael, who in turns decides to have a 'boys only' meeting. Neither meeting goes well. The girls want to stick with gossip talk and put each other day and the boys decide that unionizing the branch is their best way to utilize their time. Some funny moments, especially with Michael using the forklift to move stuff. Nothing but chaos. Pam and Jim have their first little tiff when he questions Pam about not pursuing an art career because Roy doesn't want her to do it.

The inside joke about Hasselhoff directed toward Michael was by far the funniest moment in the show. It still cracks me up all these years later. I wonder if the man himself has ever seen this particular episode and gotten a laugh out of it.

The best thing about this episode is the unexpected ending. Every since Jan and Michael hooked up earlier in the season, she has constantly resisted and resented Michael for even implying they were ever a couple and even the bulk of this episode was more of the same. So it comes as a complete shock that when she thinks their is no cameras around, to lay a big wet one on an even more shocked Michael. The other things that went down on this one is Kelly revealing to Jim and she and Ryan hooked up. Meredith passing out drunk at her desk, Phyllis getting flowers and bears delivered to her all day, Dwight getting a bobble head of himself from Angela and Pam getting PO'd that she hasn't gotten anything.

Conan O'Brien cameo ftw!

This is all about Dwight's fear of public speaking which kinda doesn't make sense given the fact that he has never had any problem telling anyone, inside and out of the Office what is on his mind. Anyway, Jim seizes the opportunity to set Dwight up to fail again by teaching him Public Speaking 101, which consist of waving one's arms a lot and pounding things to emphasize points you are making. The payoff doesn't come till the end when Dwight is actually making his speech. As is the case with Michael, he is delusional about his own public speaking abilities, which suck, which makes for a very funny moment. Good episode.

Good episode that kinda makes Michael look even sadder when he decides to show the kids in the Office that he was a "star" of Fundle Bundle. It's gotta suck when the little girl Sasha calls him out and points out that he didn't achieve his childhood dream of "getting married, having 100 kids so that he could have 100 friends...." Ouch, that's gotta sting.

Michael's Birthday ends up being more about Kevin and whether or not he has skin cancer, which obviously does not sit well with Michael and the lack of attention he is getting. You would think this would be somewhat depressing, but it offers plenty of awkward laughs as he try's to navigate around the situation. I thought his reaction to hearing the "bad news" from Kevin that it was 'negative' was very funny and makes a lot of sense in how it's reversed when it comes to giving out good / bad news. The scenes with Jim and Pam shopping was another winner, especially when Pam gets her 'nerd' on and does her Darth Vader impression.

The sight of Dwight in his "costume" as a volunteer Deputy always cracks me up. The way he runs his investigation and his interrogation methods of his co-workers is priceless. This episode is all Rainn Wilson and is just as funny watching it for the 100th time as it is the first time. Jim's impersonation of Stanley ROCKED! Very funny and very spot-on.

I think my favorite part of this kick ass episode is hearing about all the pranks that Jim pulled on Dwight that he complained to Toby about. They are so good that I wished we actually got to see them in full instead of just hearing about it. The whole photo ID arc was funny as well, especially the end with them trying to get a group picture, only to settle for a poorly photo shopped version of the image in question. This episode is definitely Win-Win-Win.

There are a lot of amazing episodes throughout the run of The Office, and this ranks right up there in the Top 3 of all time. I still need to sort out my Top 10 Greatest episodes of The Office so that I can put them all into context. So, why does this rank so high? For starters, Steve Carell did a great job writing the script. He gave everyone a little moment to shine here and it delivered. Also, there are some very memorable scenes and situations that happen in this one. You have Michael trying to juggle two dates on C a s i n o  Night when Jan and Carole show up. You have Creed stealing everything within reach which made for some funny moments and of course you have Jim finally telling Pam how he feels about her.....and getting crushed in the process. But instead of leaving the viewer hanging on that till next season, 5 minutes later they share their first kiss and then there is silence, which is the perfect way to leave on a cliffhanger.

Kevin as a poker 'pro' getting beat by Phyllis is priceless. When he says into the camera "I suck", that was the cherry on top.

I highly recommend this as a Buy. This is where the series really came into it's own and put the UK version behind them and created something original and one to be proud of. Some great episodes can be found in Season 2. This is one of my favorite Office seasons ever. It never disappoints and always puts a smile on my face. This Set also has the single greatest Blooper Reel you will ever find and is by far the funniest one on any of The Office DVD's Set.
