Title: Contagion (2011)
Post by: Chiprocks1 on June 20, 2012, 11:07:59 pm

Really not sure what to make of Contagion. The movie was done extremely well and all the actors played their roles without any flaws and the story was very contemporary and relevant to today's climate of both fear and disease. I commend Steven Soderbergh for crafting a good movie. But at the end of the day, it's still a very bleak and unsettling movie to sit through for 2 hours. I know that was the intent of the movie but it doesn't necessarily mean I want to do so. If there is one thing I will take from watching this is that I do have more respect for those that work day in and day out to combat new viruses, etc.... I think the public at large, myself included take these people for granted, not because we don't think highly of them but because we never see or hear about what they do on a daily basis.

I think the scariest part of the movie was watching people slowly returning to their primal nature of self preservation and the ensuing riots and looting. When people are at the brink of annihilation, that's when you will see the real person unfortunately. Also, in the movie they tell us how and where the virus came from, but be sure to stick around to the very end to see it.

I'd recommend this as a Rent for sure. But if you are a germaphobe, ya might wanna check out Weekend At Bernie's instead. Having said that, I give it a solid 4 Stars out of 5, but I will never watch this again. Ever.
