Losing It: When Celebrities Attack

I think the term meltdown only reinforces what the gossip want to portray. It's a fine line. Sure, celebrities know when they become a one, they are going to be in the public eye.

But on the other hand, I think it's very clear paparazzi get out of hand. I don't blame the celebrity at all for getting pissed. It's not a meltdown.

It's a vicious cycle. People pay to see their celebrity, the photographers want to earn money. blah blah blah

I don't agree with the interviewed guy at all about how we feel better to see these things. What?

He's a "celebrity" too and I'd like to see how he handles it when that Old Couple ask him to take a picture of them in front of Niagara Falls. He will lose it when he realizes they don't even want his picture but just an able-bodied person to take theirs. Robert Blake's Interview on Piers Morgan Tonight

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGHrEWKE9bk

Not really sure why I thought of Robert Blake tonight. He just popped into my head and then it hit me that I haven't heard anything about him in years. I checked Wiki to see if he had passed and saw that he is just now coming out of seclusion to make a last go at acting and the first step in getting there was this "interview" on Morgan's show. Bow howdy, that's what you call a delusional man constantly spinning stuff in his mind to sound smart and deep but having everything that leaves his mouth being incoherent and confusing. This interview is both fascinating and sad to watch. I use to like the guy years ago. Did some great stuff. But now....he's just a sad, pathetic shell of his former self.

I have it here (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/general-discussion/glorious-fail/msg15557/#msg15557)... couldn't get the video for some reason.

What I thought was interesting is the shoe was on the other foot. While Piers does not go to that level, he does have anger issues, blinders, etc. and to see him sit there calmly was inspirational.

......to see him sit there calmly was inspirational.

Dude, he wasn't calm because he can keep it in check. He was calm because in his head he is giggling like a school girl knowing he would be cashing in on the free publicity he and his show would be getting from Jones' rant. Ka-Ching!!! I wish someone would scream and rant at me....I need the money. (http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i266/Chiprocks1/Smilies/0%20All%20Smilies/HTL_biggrin.gif)

Amanda Bynes Claims She Was Assaulted by NYPD

I didn't think it was possible for anyone to 'out-crazy' Lindsay Lohan. I stand corrected. Instead of suing her family, Bynes should sue her lawyer for allowing her to wear that ridiculous wig.

I kinda feel sorry for Chicky.

I actually read a pretty interesting little article today written by Mara Wilson, of all people (http://www.****.com/blog/7-reasons-child-stars-go-crazy-an-insiders-perspective/) about what makes former child stars go crazy.  Definitely worth a read, I can't really imagine dealing with those sorts of things when I was a kid.  I'm sure I couldn't handle it.

I check out the article.

Elsewhere, for some odd reason or another, for the past few weeks I have kinda wanted to do a Lindsay Lohan marathon from the ground up, starting with The Parent Trap and working my way through most of her stuff. I miss the old Lohan, the one that EVERYONE adored and would want to be the 'girl next door'. It's just sad to see where she is heading and I don't think she will recover from this because she has no support system in place. She absolutely needs to move out of Hollywood and go live in the mountains for a year. No Cell Phones, TV's, Radio. Nothing. Just focus on getting healthy and then come back and rock it.

I JUST rewatched that SNL skit where Miley Cyrus played Lindsey Lohan.  I miss the old one too ("Firebush," as I recall her being called.  I'm in on the nicknames).  Though all I can really remember is Mean Girls, I remember seeing clips of Herbie (it must have been when I worked in the theater), and I couldn't bring myself to ever check out "Get A Clue," it felt too creepy, but I recall seeing some promo for it ages ago and noticing her for some reason.

Freaky Friday is f*cking great. And I wasn't expecting much given how big a fan I am of the original with Jodie Foster. So yeah, the remake is definitely one to be proud of. I put it right up there with Mean Girls.
Title: Re: Celebrity Meltdowns
Post by: Neumatic on May 28, 2013, 11:14:21 pm
Wow.  I really should watch those two back-to-back.

Lohan and Chicky suffer from a similar issue: they were the stars of movies that don't exist anymore, there's no "Lindsey Lohan" movie and there's no "Amanda Bynes" movie anymore, you know?  The kids who came AFTER them don't really seem to have those movies either, there's no big-screen Selena Gomez movie or ...I don't know any other Disney girls... they need to be actors that can adapt and fit into different projects, not just be headliners.

I don't know if any of you know who Miranda Cosgrove is, she was iCarly (and also in School of Rock) and she's quite smartly in college now, I can see her being a Meg Ryan/Jen Garner/Rachel McAdams type and probably fit into an ensemble if she decides to go back into acting, but she also seems like she'll be fine if she pursues a different career.  Her co-star, meanwhile, has a spin-off I saw a commercial for, and that's fine, I guess, but what happens after?  She's playing the same character for a couple more years, not really stretching, you know?

Everyone knows who Miranda Cosgrove. What's funny is that one of her songs is in Rockband and I swear is a fun one to play in-game. The bad thing is that Headphones On becomes an Earworm that you can't shake for a few days. Ack!!

I don't know who knows who Miranda Cosgrove is!  I felt like I shouldn't know.  Although I will say I like her as an actress but not as a singer.

Oh god, I just realized that in ten years or so the movie stars that we're going to be seeing commercials for in the big movies are going to be these kids running around now.  I'm sort of dreading that, I don't want to see, say, Nolan Gould n a part that would have gone to Seth Rogen.

I really don't know these folks. I kinda know Bynes from watching with my son, ions ago, some disney/SNL like show she was on. I do remember some of her skits actually made me laugh.

I feel zero empathy for these folks. They need to take responsibility. They are grown ass people. They made choices. They need to deal with the consequences.

Zero sorrow.

Well, Bynes has been around since she was tiny, she was on All That (with Kenan "What Up With That?" Thompson) back when I was young, had her own show, had a sitcom that I never saw, had a couple movies (the last one I remember was "Easy A").  I even remember her being on The Drew Carey Show.  The others I just mentioned are just famous for their one project.

It's a constant damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don't situation: If former child actors bring up their past, they're washed-up opportunists shilling for attention. If they never do, they're clearly in denial. If they say it was fantastic, they're full of sh*t. If they acknowledge that it wasn't always fantastic, they're bitter.

Sounds like she's takes responsibility....

Former child star explains why young actors 'go crazy'

Quote
She wasn't "Olsen twin famous" but she did begin her movie career at age 5, so Mara Wilson can understand why it may seem to the rest of the world that young stars like Justin Bieber or Amanda Bynes have lost their minds.

Best known for her roles in 1990s films "Mrs. Doubtfire" and "Matilda," Wilson turned to humor site ****.com to list the reasons why she believes child stars "go crazy." The result is a thoughtful seven-point explanation of how show business can be a trap and why "not many child stars make it out of Hollywood alive or sane."

Wilson, who is no longer acting, attended New York University and is pursuing a writing career. Her parents were against her becoming an actress, but supported her wishes to give the profession a try, protecting her emotionally and financially every step of the way. Most child actors don't have that, she writes.

"The next time a former child star is in the news, look at the age at which he or she started performing," Wilson writes. "Then imagine making a life-changing decision at that age. Chances are good he or she wasn't the one who made it."

Child actors are not allowed to act out as adolescents, so by the time they become young adults, they rebel, "often with major consequences," Wilson writes. They also have trouble dealing with rejection since they were adored for much of their childhood, but don't have what it takes to leave it all behind, she writes.

"It's easier for them to hold onto what they did in their past and make money that way," Wilson writes. "Besides, everyone they know is in the business, and after having people take their money, reject them for their looks, and turn them into a sex object, they're not going to be especially trusting. The sleazy bastards you know are better than the sleazy bastards you don't."

Wilson recalls walking a red carpet when she was seven years old and being asked about Hugh Grant's **** arrest.

"While I knew he'd been arrested, I didn't understand what for and didn't feel comfortable answering," she writes. "My father called the station the next day to suggest that they, you know, not talk to a child about soliciting sex. But he was rebuffed, and the complaint was ignored. Even then, as a kid, I knew that parental power was gone."

Wilson describes herself as a normal-looking woman and "reformed drama nerd" living in a two-bedroom apartment "in one of the less cool neighborhoods of New York." Her advice to, say, Lindsay Lohan? "Get the hell out of acting and into something soothing. Take up botany or something."

To the rest of the kids who want to act, she says, " Make sure it's really your choice, get out of it when it stops being fun, and get an education."

As he said “So Sad”… and not laugh too hard.

Slight tangent here from Bynes, but to the other subject of $75,000 and happiness.
Actually, that study got updated this year. The amount is now 250K – 500K that people are totally happy. The talk show I listen to walked through this some and made some good points. The key is money CAN provide happiness. More so it’s the security that brings the happiness. Forget the fringe folks who are wealthy and have problems with people wanting to borrow or lack of trust among associates or your business. The middle group that is well off, are very happy because they have money.

Makes sense. The ol saying Money does not buy happiness…. Not sure exactly the point it’s trying to make.

This is beyond a "simple meltdown". This is very troubling. I thought that Paris was well adjusted and doing pretty good for the amount of attention she gets just for being MJ's daughter. Apparently, there is a lot of stuff going on for a 15 year old to do something so drastic.

Paris Jackson Rushed to Hospital

No one, especially a 15 year old kid should be going through stuff that would bring this on. Apparently she has done this before....or tried to that is. This is a more in depth segment leading up to her attempt and possible reasons why she did so.
Title: Re: Celebrity Meltdowns

This newscaster is a jerk. Making it sound like Paris has real issues. Get real bud.
Time for reality to kick in. Life is hard. It has issues. Just because she's been a protected flower, does not catapult her into special status.
Maybe special, but that special where you better get your act together. Life just kicked in.

Since none of us know what is all involved, which with that family I’m sure is a cluster.

But…

I also think it’s this generations culture, especially the privileged that view their life quite differently than say 20 years ago.

My knee jerk, weekend psychologist mind is asking, what is it causing such a young mind to contemplate their own death as a solution? Their Twitter account is getting some hate. Someone said something bad about daddy? There’s a drop in your facebook followers.

Do you see my point? What does she find so stressful that she does not want to face?

I have zero empathy. It’s sad she’s like this, but I think most kids her age have a hell of lot more to deal with and none of them are life threatening.

Kind of a reverse Celeb Meltdown. Instead of the actual "celeb", it's the Judge reacting to his behavior. Personally, I can't stand him. There's a great unintentional joke there, "this is the news at six. B o n g!" (It's a BBC News thing, they ring a big bell after every main announcement.  B o n g!)

You know, if it wasn't for this whole blow-up thing and the fact that she's cheesing off everyone who could give her a helping hand (seriously, I could totally see her in a Miley Cyrus movie.  Well, I could imagine it, I wouldn't want to actually SEE it), she would be in my mind for some characters still, I always did like her (I had the idea of disguising her as a boy before "She's The Man," you know).

I think part of meltdowns, people are totally self absorbed, ego centric, iceholes.

I have NEVER liked Rex Reed. He was part of the landscape years ago with movie reviews, so avoiding him was work. I actually had no idea he was even around, or relevant for that matter. He was never relevant to me, so I have no idea who listens to him.

What a douche. How does he exist still.

Melissa McCarthy responds to critic's 'hippo,' 'tractor-sized' slams

Quote
When Melissa McCarthy's comedy "Identity Thief" hit theaters earlier this year, it met mixed reviews. Some critics found it hilarious; for others, the jokes fell flat.

But one reviewer barely bothered to focus on the film at all. When veteran film critic Rex Reed dished out his take, he set his sights on criticizing McCarthy, calling the leading lady "obese and obnoxious with equal success."

In fact, that barb was practically kind compared to what else he had to say. He also referred to McCarthy as a "female hippo," called her "cacophonous, tractor-sized." And then, after the film found box office success, he claimed the hubbub his comments stirred was actually responsible for the big draw.

As for McCarthy, she didn't take the bait, allowing the controversy to pass without a word. But now, over four months later and with the buzz behind her, the actress has something to say.

In an recent interview with the New York Times, she opened up about the infamous review.

"Really?" she said, recalling her initial reaction to the piece. "Why would someone OK that?"

During her chat with the Times, McCarthy never mentioned Reed by name, but did give her impression of him in the wake of the review.

"I felt really bad for someone who is swimming in so much hate," she said. "I just thought, that's someone who's in a really bad spot, and I am in such a happy spot. I laugh my head off every day with my husband and my kids who are mooning me and singing me songs."

While she said she didn't allow Reed's comments to get her down, McCarthy admitted that if the incident had taken place when she was younger, it would have left her "crushed."

Reed gave his reaction to the controversy shortly after his initial review. In an interview with WOR-AM, he said, "Don't make me a villain. … She's is crying all the way to the bank!"

As for her comments, she is incredibly dumb to think that what she said wasn't hurtful in any way. Get real. I never really followed her at all before, but man, I can't look at her the same way anymore, that's for sure.

I only saw her on occasion flashing through the channels or a commercial/trailer for an appearance. My knee jerk reaction is of disdain. I'm sure there will fan's in the same league as fans of Michael Jackson, where blinders are put on, ignore the dark side and in fact defend with illogical passion.

Her show got cancelled... right?

You know, there was a reality show called The Club that aired on Spike TV years ago. It followed the day to day operations of a Vegas Nite Club and one of the episodes was centered around getting "name" celebritiies and they bagged Lindsay Lohan to make an appearance to bring in the crowd. Only problem is that she wasn't that big of a deal yet and the MC kept asking people "who is Lindsay Lohan? Is she famous"? Ouch. So, her clubbing days started early. I think the episode was filmed before Mean Girls has hit the screens.

The TV show didn't last long. It was cancelled after 4 episodes. I actually liked it and wanted to see more. Oh well.....

Well, the last few times Amanda was in the news, I suspected that this was all a PR stunt. But I'm gonna have to change my tune because of her latest dust-up. No one and I mean NO ONE would risk arson for a simple act of getting in front of a camera to extend ones "fame" for another 15 minutes. She is seriously off the deep end now. Why hasn't she already been forced to get help with the amount of run-ins with the law? How is it she is still out in public?

I really haven't followed her career since she won her Oscar and the last time I saw her in anything remotely "big" was of course in Die Another Day. I didn't realize how many roles she has taken since then that didn't ring a bell with me. I don't recognize any of those movies that are mentioned. I can't comment on the movies (yet) as I haven't seen them, but her career can't be as bad as Cuba Gooding Jr. who is a cautionary tale of what NOT to do after winning an Oscar.

Despite her obvious beauty, she has done nothing of me to make notice. She displays giant huge jugs in Movie 43, and The Call, did not elevate or spotlight her to any degree. She is taking on very bad projects. I would think, it's too late for her. I'd rather walk away then continue bad roles like Cuba

Lindsay Lohan Oprah Interview 2013: After Rehab, Star Reveals She 'Kind of Wanted to Go to Jail'

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0HX3Qaazuw

I want nothing but 100% commitment on her part to get healthy and do good work. But I am always skeptical with these types of interviews, especially with Oprah and so close on the heels of Lohan's latest movie The Canyons just out now. Smells like PR if you ask me. But I want the old Lohan back and if this is in fact the start of something good for her, then I'll gladly hop on board the Lohan Train again.

I am not as forgiving. She NEEDS to earn her position back in relevance. I will sit back and wait. And, I really don’t care at this point. In fact, I wish she would just fade until she can prove her worth. I am finding Oprah shallow as well. This little interview does nothing for Lohan. I lean more towards being ticked because not only did she flip everybody off, key folks (judges, lawyers) did little but insult the general public with their decisions about a celebrity. Anybody else would have been slammed.

I agree that she has to earn it. There has to be consequences for her childish behavior and she shouldn't just be handed her career back. If she starts putting out quality work, then yeah, I'd be a fan of hers again, but only if she grows up, takes responsibility and stays clean.

Dennis Rodman gets fiery on Kenneth Bae question

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nJ0wIPvJG8

Meeeeeeeeeltdooooooooown! Yikes, I thought Dennis was going to have a heart attack. With that out of the way, I find it very odd that if he didn't want to talk politics that he would insinuate that Kenneth Bae did something "wrong". Rodman is beyond stupid and it has nothing to do with his looks and everything to do with his mindset. So, he tells Chris Cuomo he doesn't want to talk politics and yet the very next thing he says, he is defending Kim Jong-un by implying that he had every right to arrest Bae. Like I said......STUPID.

Title: Re: Celebrity Meltdowns
Post by: Chiprocks1 on January 07, 2014, 07:53:15 am
One other thing I would like to point out and comment on. Why the f*ck would anyone (pointing finger at all media outlets for the past year, not just Cuomo) want Rodman to address the Bae situation anyway? Do you really want him to take control of a political issue as big as this? Sure, he has "access" to Kim Jong-un, but I certainly have no faith in his ability to not make things even worse than they already are. Just watch the video above for proof. He can't communicate clearly and he clearly has a neurological disorder of some kind. Whether its from being an alcoholic or something else, I don't want him speaking on behalf of Americans with regard to foreign policy.

Gene Simmons gets called out by a fan

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNw0Vc3eywQ

Not a "meltdown" per se, but Gene's reaction is why I don't seek out celebrities in general. You just don't know how they are going to react and I feel bad for that one dude that Gene was claiming to be something he was not and he even had a KISS tattoo to prove it. I met Gene once and I got lucky in that he didn't do anything like this. Eric Singer on another day and time was very cool and actually had time for small talk. I get where Gene is coming from, but there is something that is pretty simple to do if he wants to make harder for them to flip on eBay and that would be to just personalized it. Not many people out there are going to want a signed item with someone else's name on it. Sure, this would mean that it will take twice as long to get through each person, but I would think that is a small price to pay if it meant keeping his name (Gene) out of the mud, so that people wouldn't attack him for it be it in person or online.

Dunno about a meltdown... but some serious ego going on here.

Katherine Heigl sues Duane Reade -- Drug Lord Did Me Wrong!

Quote
Katherine Heigl claims a major drug store chain is shamelessly using her image to hawk hemorrhoid cream, Rid and all things drug store.

Katherine filed a lawsuit -- obtained by TMZ -- in which she claims she was coming out of Duane Reade in NYC last month, when a paparazzo snapped a pic of her carrying a Duane Reade bag.

Katherine says she was horrified to learn the drug store later tweeted, "Love a quick #DuaneReade run?  Even @KatieHeigl can't resist shopping #NYC's favorite drugstore."

So now Katherine is gunning for the drug store chain in court, demanding $6 Mil.

And here's the best part.  Katherine turns the lawsuit into a resume, saying, "Plaintiff is a highly successful television and motion picture actress, producer and celebrity."  It goes on to list her various credits, adding, "Plaintiff continues to be in high demand in the entertainment industry."

And braggie Katie adds, "A recent search for 'Katherine Heigl' on the Google search engine returned over 3.2 million results."  And she says she boasts 754,000 Twitter followers.

Katherine also says she'll donate her monetary judgment to the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation which focuses on animal welfare.

Is Rid still a thing?

Kinda belongs here. Some are hated for their off camera meltdowns and others are sure to have one once they hear they are on this list. I thought I could guess who would get the #1 slot. I was wrong. I had it either being Eddie Murphy, Megan Fox or Shannen Doherty. I was wrong on all accounts. With that said, I agree 100% with the eventual winner as well as the overall list. The timing's really weird for Miley Cyrus, because just last night I heard a cover she performed and it was excellent.  I think in her case it's more the wrapper she puts on (the acting, the outfits, etc) that puts people off, but bare bones and simple, she has musical talent.  Of course, she wouldn't be rich and famous just doing that, so...

He definitely needs his clock cleaned.

Did you see this little treasure out...

Justin Bieber Used A Wheelchair At Disneyland So He Could Cut Lines

Quote
As if the world needed another reason to hate Justin Bieber, he just gave it one.

Bieber went to Disneyland Sunday, and allegedly used a wheelchair so he could cut in line.

Two fan photos have surfaced, causing wild speculation of just why Bieber needed to wheel around the theme park.

Quote
A spokesperson for the Canadian criminal told TMZ he was “nursing a knee injury from basketball” and he was only in the wheelchair to rest a few, qualifying as the worst excuse ever heard.

Even more outrageous, TMZ found out Bieber doesn’t even need a wheelchair because the park personally escorts him to and from rides to avoid the massive crowds.

In case you forgot what a terrible person he is, here’s a reminder

NIKKI SIXX Responds To GENE SIMMONS' 'Moronic' Comments About People Suffering From Depression
 (http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/nikki-sixx-responds-to-gene-simmons-moronic-comments-about-people-suffering-from-depression/#eqoGLwdOuUVes7d2.99)

Gene Simmons has been putting his Dragon Boot foot in his mouth a lot this week, be it on Huffington Post and his remarks about immigrants learning English, along with what could be construed as a racist comment when he used the word "Wasssup" in describing black culture in making his point about who succeeds and who doesn't (Proper English Vs. Slang). And now Gene is backtracking in another public fiasco with his remarks about those that are depressed to 'kill themselves'. If Gene keeps this up, more of the public at large is really going to start getting on his ass and that's going to open the floodgates and knowing how he responds, this could be a full-on meltdown. It all started with his feud with thos behind the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He is still p*ssed about it and he hasn't shut up about that either.

Yea... There are lines that should not be crossed.

Not sure what drives people to not censor their thoughts.
Title: Re: Celebrity Meltdowns
Post by: Mac on August 16, 2014, 04:10:59 am
Gotta agree, Gene, unfortunately has a lot of influence, especially over young impressionable kids. One of the rare times I think someone should have censored themselves.

Quote
As the storm surrounding Gene Simmons‘ recent controversial comments about suicide grows to include radio station boycotts of his band’s music, the Kiss star has issued a new statement declaring that he “deeply” supports those who suffer from depression.

Triple M broadcasting, owner of five metropolitan radio stations across Australia, has banned Kiss following the explosive comments by Simmons on depression and suicide that they’ve dubbed “misguided and insensitive.” Albany, New York’s longtime WPYX DJ Uncle Vito has also vowed not to play Kiss music, labeling Simmons “an arrogant, unfeeling a—hole.”

These “are not topics he should be using to further his notoriety or sell records,” Triple M network head Mike Fitzpatrick says in a statement. “His desperation to use mental health issues to find relevancy in a modern age is sickening. I can only put it down to a brain fade on his part.”

The furor started when Simmons, in response to a question about his relationship with former Kiss bandmates, went off on a tangent concerning depressed and suicidal people. “For a putz, 20-year-old kid to say, ‘I’m depressed, I live in Seattle,’” Simmons concluded. “F– you, then kill yourself.”

An outraged Fitzpatrick, while calling Simmons a “d–head,” is now encouraging other radio programmers in Australia and North America to similarly stop playing Kiss music.

WPYX Triple M, which broadcasts in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney, aren’t the only ones taking Simmons to task, either. Nikki Sixx took time on his radio show this week to criticize Simmons and encourage those suffering not to “listen to people who don’t know what they’re talking about.”

Simmons has responded to all this backlash on his Facebook page with the following message:
Depression is very serious and very sad when it happens to anyone, especially loved ones.

I have not commented on various allegations made in the media, but I want to make this statement for the record and to clarify.

I deeply support and am empathetic to anyone suffering from any disease, especially depression.
I have never sugarcoated my feelings regarding drug use and alcoholics.

Somewhere along the line, my intentions in speaking very directly and perhaps politically-incorrectly about drug use and alcoholics have been misconstrued as vile commentary on depression.
Unkind statements about depression was certainly never my intention.

And I do not intend to defend myself here and now by listing the myriad charities and self-help organizations I am involved with.

This is not about me. This is about clearing up misconceptions and being clear. My heart goes out to anyone suffering from depression.

Update 8/15 9:45PM ET – Simmons has now posted a more detailed apology on the official Kiss Facebook page:
I want to make this statement about my views on depression for the record and to clarify my prior remarks.
To the extent my comments reported by the media speak of depression, I was wrong and in the spur of the moment made remarks that in hindsight were made without regard for those who truly suffer the struggles of depression. I sincerely apologize to those who were offended by my comments. I recognize that depression is very serious and very sad when it happens to anyone, especially loved ones. I deeply support and am empathetic to anyone suffering from any disease, especially depression.
I have never sugarcoated my feelings regarding drug use and alcoholics. Somewhere along the line, my intention of speaking in very directly and perhaps politically incorrectly about drug use and alcoholics has been misconstrued as vile commentary on depression. Unkind statements about depression was certainly never my intention. Fully, you will know that and I do not intend to defend myself here and now, by listing the myriad charities and self-help organizations I am involved with. Rather, I simply want to be clear that my heart goes out to anyone suffering from depression and I deeply regret any offhand remarks in the heat of an interview that might have suggested otherwise.

Ray Rice -- ELEVATOR KNOCKOUT ... Fiancee Takes Crushing Punch

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbwTMJroTbI

Up till today, we have only seen the aftermath of the knockout, which led to a weak-ass 2 game suspension of the NFL player. It was and still is a joke that the NFL can only muster up such a soft penalty for such a brutal act of violence. Even substance abuse by players nets them a far stiffer penalty. Well, after the release of this full video today, he is no longer employed in the NFL. Normally I'd say this was a cause for celebration. But the fact of the matter is that both the NFL and Baltimore Ravens are just trying to get ahead of this due to the overwhelming backlash they got for the 2 gamer. Their decision has nothing to do with doing the right thing and everything to do with managing their public image.

'This Is Our Life!': Janay Rice Breaks Silence to Defend Husband, Criticize the Media

Quote
NFL star Ray Rice has been released by the Baltimore Ravens and suspended indefinitely by the NFL after the release of disturbing surveillance footage from an Atlantic City hotel elevator that shows Rice punching his then-fiance Janay Palmer in the face.

Janay Rice, who is now Rice's wife, has responded, lashing out at the media on Instagram.

"I woke up this morning feeling like I had a horrible nightmare, feeling like I'm mourning the death of my closest friend. But to have to accept the fact that it's reality is a nightmare in itself. No one knows the pain that the media & unwanted [opinions] from the public has caused my family. To make us relive a moment in our lives that we regret every day is a horrible thing. To take something away from the man I love that he has worked his ass of for all his life just to gain ratings is horrific. THIS IS OUR LIFE! What don't you all get. If your intentions were to hurt us, embarrass us, make us feel alone, take all happiness away, you've succeeded on so many levels. Just know we will continue to grow & show the world what real love is! Ravensnation we love you!"

Earlier on America's Newsroom, Jonathan Hunt reported the latest on the outcry against the NFL.

Bill Cosby

This is more of a rant, which I thought we had a thread. Anyway, it appears ol Bill did some freaky sh*t back in the day. My rant isn't about that though.

Bill my be guilty... Maybe not. I want to know why none of these women said anything for years? Decades? I'm not giving a pass to Bill at all. If he's guilty with a crime, then nail his ass.
I just gotta ask the women, why now? What's to prevent them saying anything they want?

I don't get it. I don't get Bill and I don't get the women suddenly saying stuff now after all these years.

I've been following the story since it broke and it has been interesting to see it all unfold. As for why now....well, allegations actually popped up about 10 years ago and the women that accused him, were vilified and shamed publicly for doing so. He settled out of court with one of them. So there was no incentive for other women to come forward given the backlash the few that did speak out. As for now, it actually got new life when a comedian did a bit in his stand up about the allegations and that video went viral, prompting one, then another and then another and so on to come forward. Now it's taking on a life of its own.

I hope this dumbf*ck gets sued for millions of dollars and ends up in jail for life. This was totally uncalled for. If his excuse was because he "feared for his life", well, the court judge will be throwing that right out the window because in the video. he saw her beforehand hand and knew she was on stage. Add to the fact that he goes back to playing his guitar right after throwing the punch says he just doesn't give a f*ck or even cares.  This video is so unsettling and disturbing to watch.
