It's crazy that this movie is almost 7 years old and I'm just now seeing it for the first time. I'm not a fan of Sacha Baron Cohen, even back when he had Da Ali G Show. So tonight I finally got around to watching Borat and my immediate reaction is what the f u c k are people smoking to rate this movie so high. Yes, there are a few laugh out moments that are truly funny. But for the rest of the film it's very tiresome sitting through. I know that if I were to stumble across it on Late Night TV I wouldn't stop and watch this again.
I love mockumentary films. Just not this one. I say Skip this for sure. I waited almost 7 years to see this and in the end it didn't deliver based on the hype surrounding this one. I think the movie kinda went downhill as soon as I saw Luenell playing a p r o s t i t u t e . Why her? Well for starters, the idea of the film is that Borat is duping and punking unsuspecting people...getting real life moments captured on tape. So when she came on, I knew she was a comedienne and an actress. I immediately recognized her as one of the hostages in The Rock (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/dvd's-blu-rays/the-rock-(1996)/msg5156/#msg5156)
