I love Rush Hour (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/dvd's-blu-rays/rush-hour-(1998)/msg9234/#msg9234). I do not love Rush Hour 2. To say the sequel was and is a huge disappointment is an understatement. The story itself was very weak, the pacing was dull and boring and the acting of Chris Tucker was horrible. Yes, he was over acting at times in the first film, but was kept in check. But in this one it was all that times a hundred. It was too much and you could clearly see a man and his ego out of control. He was never kept in check here. It was like he was doing a stylized version of what a "Chris Tucker" character is suppose to be. There was no chemistry between him and Jackie Chan in this one because Chris was trying to make every scene about him and him alone.
There were a couple of laughs in the movie for sure. But they were more giggles than anything else. The charm of the first one was lacking. The funniest scene in the entire movie comes at the end. Oh, wait. It wasn't even in the movie. It was the last scene of the blooper reel where Carter says "Daaaaaamn, he's not gonna be in Rush Hour 3"! Now THAT was funny. I remember it getting the biggest laugh in the theater. The rest of the movie....not so much.
I own this DVD unfortunately. This is a Skip all the way. The movie itself gets 2 Stars. But with the added Blooper Reel at the end, I'd give it 2 1/2 Stars.
