This is a very unique situation that I've never really seen before. Thomas Jane stared in the 2004 film The Punisher. It flopped. The studio rebooted the franchise with another actor in 2008. It flopped. So, it was very bizzare that TJ would come back and do his own short film on the same character with no affiliation with Marvel or the Studio. This would be like Michael Keaton doing his own Batman (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/dvd's-blu-rays/batman-(1989)/msg10930/#msg10930) in a way. Dirty Laundry debuted at this years Comic Con 2012 (July 12 - 15) (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/comic-books-and-art/comic-con-2012-(july-12-15)/msg10462/#msg10462).

I wonder if this is TJ's way of generating interest and getting back onto the Punisher film franchise by using this as a "calling card".

This turned out badass for a short film, keeping in tone with his Punisher film and that of the character Frank Castle, aka The Punisher. From what I've read, it was shot over the weekend with no budget. It looks better than a lot of high end "blockbusters" that cost $200 million to make. If there is one criticism I have with the film is the over reliance of FX blood squibs. I hated the look and it's why I pretty much hate The Expendables (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/dvd's-blu-rays/the-expendables-(2010)/msg5647/#msg5647) for the very same reason. I really don't know what is up with Hollywood's mindset of using an FX that screams out fake. Go back to using practical squibs. Sheesh. It doesn't cost anymore than paying someone to do it all in Post. Other than that, I liked Dirty Laundry.

The short film that is......

....not stinky clothes.

no you know....most comic movies are so bad I generally don't even watch them.  The big budget ones I have more of an interest in only because I know the drop a ton of dough on them

I saw netflix now has Thor and Captain America up...so I might watch Cap here in the next few days while working.

Thor was ok...I am not done with it..I won't say more

You should definitely watch Dirty Laundry. It's only a 10 minute film. Violent! Just how you normally like your Saturday Morning Cartoons!!

Um, I won't say anything about Captain America: The First Avenger (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/dvd's-blu-rays/captain-america-the-first-avenger-(2011)/msg7962/#msg7962). The link is here if you want it. I actually liked Thor (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/dvd's-blu-rays/thor-(2011)/msg7984/#msg7984).

oh ok so you've seen them both./

yeah Thor was weird for me...I don't like the real world stuff as much.

we'll see...it's so hard to work and really get the feel for these movies.

my only other choice is to spread them out over 1 week watching like 20 minutes a night at about 1 am...which isn't so bad.

I just haven't been in a movie mood lately when I am done working.
