I'm not really a fan of the Zombie genre for whatever reason. Maybe it has to do with it's simplistic storytelling that doesn't really offer much in the way of variety. Kind of a "you've seen one Zombie flix, you've seen them all". So, that brings me to I Am Legend, another take on "Zombies". These aren't what I would call your typical slow-footed Zombies cliches, but infected humans that take characteristics of Vampires since they hide during the day and only come out at night to hunt their prey in a very feral manner. Scary **** here.

But for whatever reason, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and I really liked the quieter moments with Will Smith and his dog Sam. It's asking a lot of any actor to carry a film for pretty much the entire time acting opposite a dog and mannequins. And yet, Will pulls it off in a believable way and with such ease too. Highly recommend this movie to all. Definitely a Buy for me.

I wanted to like I Am Legend. I've been a fan of the book and the original movie. Will Smith does a great job of bringing emotion to this last man standing story.  Unfortunately, he has to fight terribly rendered CGI baddies. If it were not for them, I would place this movie with some of the best sci-fi out there. The CGI puts a major cramp in liking it.

Note
Quote
Four years after it was originally discussed (and was deemed "dead" last May), Warner Bros has closed deals with Akiva Goldsman and Overbrook Entertainment to do another installment of I Am Legend, the 2007 hit film.

Deadline reports that the intention is for Will Smith to reprise his role as scientist Robert Neville, who was the last man on earth doing battle with a mutated mob in New York City after an apocalyptic man-made virus wiped out the population.

A deal was made with Arash Amel to write the script.

The film is NOT being called a prequel, which had been rumored for the past few years. But clearly Warner Bros sees more room to roam on a film that grossed $584 million worldwide. The original film is based on the novel by Richard Matheson.

No word on director Francis Lawrence yet and Smith will wait to see script before committing.

I wonder if the studio sees more room to roam or with that kind of money, we'll make sure it has room to roam.

Well, it's good news to hear they are going forward with a Sequel...or Prequel...or NyQuil. Whatever it's called, I'm there.
