August 17, 2012, director Tony Scott and Tom Cruise met to scout locations in Fallon, Nevada for the sequel which was set to go into production in 2013 and expected for release in 2014. Jerry Bruckheimer would again produce and Peter Craig was in charge of writing script which is said to be nearly finished. According to reports, the plot of the movie would focus on the role of drones in modern aerial warfare.

August 19, 2012, Scott was found dead after jumping 200 feet to his death from a bridge in California. It is currently unknown if the film will be made due to Scott's death.

In spite of Tony Scott's (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/the-drive-in-theater/tony-scott-(21-june-1944-19-august-2012)/msg11548/#msg11548) passing, I still think Top Gun 2 will happen. Not only do I think it will happen, I have a pretty strong gut feeling that Ridley Scott would step in to direct the film to honor his brother. I've not heard any rumors or read about this happening. This just came to me now when putting this thread together. So, you heard it hear first.

Due to nothing on last night, I pushed in my Blu-Ray of Top Gun. Plenty has been written about it. It works on so many levels by appealing to men and women. As my wife pointed out though Kelly McGillis is beautiful in the flick, has not aged well. Like Kathleen Turner, something happened and they both have developed adam apples. I'm just sayin'

But the other thing I wanted to point out is how 'sweaty' this movie is. I never noticed this before. These guys are constantly covered in sweat. Way more than a movie like Body Heat.

In fact we kind of cocked our heads in disbelief at the volleyball scene. These guys are playing hard in the heat of the son. Maverick has an date with 'Charlie' (McGillis) and leaves the volleyball game by putting on his heavy leather flight jacket with cloth collar.  The next scene he arrives at her house and asks to take a shower. That was just very, very odd to watch.

On a completely unrelated topic, Fonzie thought that wearing his Leather Jacket in the hot sun, while water skiing to jump over a shark was...."normal". Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! (http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i266/Chiprocks1/Smilies/0%20All%20Smilies/ThumbsUp.gif)

I don't think he ever took his jacket off... did he?

Maybe, he did when he acted tough. Maybe I'm thinking something else?

I wonder if Val Kilmer is going to be in TP2. No, this has nothing to do with the video. Just trying to cast this movie before they do.

Hmmmmm, hope they are going to automatically paint themselves into a corner with dating themselves with this subject matter. I'm thinking of movies like Stealth
