Mission: Impossible II doesn't really feel anything like the series or the first Mission: Impossible (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/dvd's-blu-rays/mission-impossible-(1996)/msg12308/#msg12308) at all. It's actually more in line with James Bond than anything else. I'm not sure of that's a good thing or a bad thing. One thing for sure, I've always enjoyed this one. Sure, there are a lot of silly set ups, but it's not an issue if they are deliver on the entertainment value, which John Woo does. I will say that this isn't close to being in the same league as The Killer, Hard Boiled or even Face/Off (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/dvd's-blu-rays/faceoff-(1997)/msg10840/#msg10840). But i love John's style of movie making and I love seeing him do the same scenes over and over again. Spark gun shots? Check. Double barrel shoot-outs? Check. Slo-mo action sequences? Check. Pigeons? Whaaaaa...... PIGEONS!! I always get a chuckle out of the fact that even among the pigeons, John is still able to produce one Dove. Hahaha.

Anyway, the Set Pieces in this one are entertaining for sure, especially the Motorcycle chase. Not sure why people like to crap on this particular sequence. Meh. Oh well. I liked it. I own this one on DVD, but because there are some serious flaws with the movie, I can't recommend this as a Buy. But this is definitely worth a Rent.
