I'm of the mindset that Scream 2 is just as good, if not better than the original Scream (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/dvd's-blu-rays/scream-(1996)/msg12745/#msg12745) and it comes down the witty script by Kevin Williamson as well as the direction of Wes Craven. This may be more "gorier" then the first film, but it never did scare me at all. I just like that the characters are entertaining, the actors do a great job with their respective roles and the overall aesthetic looks great, keeping in line with the first one. The movie itself did produced a couple of great death scenes. I'm of course referring to Jada Pinkett at the beginning and then later with Dewey (David Arquette) . With Dewey, we of course come to learn that he did survive, but in that moment of when we all thought that he bit the dust, it was framed and shot in a way that made it great, especially with Courtney Cox reaction to it.

If there is one gripe I have about Scream 2, its killing off Randy (Jamie Kennedy). You can't get rid of the guy that continually adds comedic levity to the proceedings. But in a roundabout way, Dewey for pretty much the whole movie was in fact the funniest, and best part of the movie, especially his verbal "sparring" with Gale.

The DVD that I watched is part of my Scream: The Ultimate Collection Box Set. Highly recommend this as a Buy.
