I wasn't planning on watching this given my dislike of Country music. But I've read a few articles and they made it sound like it's worth at least giving it a shot. Besides, I love Connie Britton in everything she has done. So, why not. Premieres tonight.

This is definitely going to be a straight up Soap Opera. I don't have a problem with that, I like Soaps when they are done right and the Pilot is off to a good start. Connie Britton is great, so is Hayden Panettiere. The character archetypes are interesting and the fact that it's set in the music business world, even if it is Country, is what intrigues me the most. I'm still not a fan of the music for the most part so it will be interesting to see just how far I can ride this series in spite of it. I did kinda like the song that closes out the episode. I'm on board with Nashville for the time being.

It's so cool seeing my burg on TV.  I never saw the Batman building on anything but local TV before (and the Bluebird is literally down the street from my house, it's impossible to get in there).  They shoot stuff here, usually small stuff, but nothing network like this.

There is a line of dialog in a particular scene that pretty much sums up the musical climate and lack of knowledge on current "music fans" where 3 "fans" are kissing Rayna's (Connie Britton) about how much they love her music and one of the fans says she should put out a new album, Rayna tells her that her newest album just dropped and the fan's response was "Is it at Starbucks?" Oh, brother.

Okay, now for the rest of the episode. They did a great job detailing why Pop Music singers at large just absolutely suck. Just watched the video shoot of Juliet (Hayden Panettiere) at the beginning of the episode and you will see a by-the-numbers-manufactured-radio-song-with-no-soul track and then compare it to the final song at the end of the episode sung by Rayna and Deacon (Chip Esten) and you will see what has longevity. It's all about how you choose to sing a song that makes it one for the ages. Hell, just look at the song that Juliet and Deacon wrote in the back of the truck and then her demo of the same song in the studio. Night and day. The acoustic one was way better, the polished, countrified one, although a bit more soulful, didn't do it for me.

Anyway, this was a fantastic episode.

I wonder what the logic is for Juliet to shoplift, knowing that there are fans watching her. Is it that she is trying to give herself the 'bad girl' persona, or is it a way to make sure the news stays on her and keep her mother and her drug use out of the press? I think it's the latter. I'm still not able to shake Connie Britton as Tami Taylor just yet.

Well, based on my prediction last week about what was the motivation for Juliet to shoplift, I was wrong. With the ending of this episode, I would say it was a ruse just to get Deacon to have sympathy and compassion for her to hook him into her clutches. Well played, ma'am, well played. Another great episode. I knew Juliet's interview with Robin Roberts would blow up in her face. There is so much juicy stuff on the show that it's flying by super fast. Even the political campaign just got a hell of a lot more interesting now that they are hinting at something happening between Teddy (Eric Close) and Peggy (Kimberly Williams). Yes, it's obvious they had a thing and the writers are trying to get us to think 'affair'. But I think it's gonna go deeper. Deep like 'illegitimate child' deep.

Another great episode. I don't know which story I'm liking more. There's the whole Deacon and Juliette arc that's running. There's the Gunnar, Scarlet and her slimeball boyfriend Avery "love" triangle with him constantly trying to undermine her chance at succeeding where he has constantly failed. And there's the Teddy for Mayor campaign that is getting dirty and leading toward something dark. The ending definitely is setting up a blackmail scheme. How it plays out is anybody's guess. Nashville looks like a fun place to visit. I never once thought about visiting there, even when I was a huge Elvis fan.

This first misstep of the season for sure. It wasn't all that compelling with any of the stories that were being told. About the only interesting thing happening was Rayna working with a new producer to create a new sound for herself which the record company likes. That is until they find out who the producer is and suddenly it's a no-go. The behind the scenes stuff and all that political  b u l l s h i t  is fascinating to watch. I get the feeling that Rayna will stand her ground to the point of demanding she be let go from her contract.

The entire episode is building up to the duet between Rayna and Juliettewho are being forced to sing together for a number of reasons. The least being for the love of music. Watching the political manipulation continue was fun to see and sad to say, very much a part of the music business. So, it finally comes down to the two of them deciding to write a song together since their ego's were too big to agree on a previously recorded song. I wasn't sure what kind of song they would end up with, but I gotta say that I think the song ROCKED! It was more rock than country, even though there was that country flavor in their vocals. I'd buy that song right now. It's that good. The name of the song is 'Wrong Song'.

So far all the story-lines they have running concurrently have kept me engaged. Even Avery's arc has gotten infinitely better now that he is being woo'ed by a Major Producer who in turn pulling the "dump your band or there is no contract" offer. Given how he even got as far as he did by sleeping with that Music promoter, it's a no-brainer that he will sell out his band and friends at the drop of a hat. The one story-line that is getting somewhat old is the one involving Gunner pining after Scarlett. It's a bit much and shows him to be a doormat and her to be indecisive about everything. I really liked the version of For Your Glory that Juliette sings with the choir.

I didn't think I'd miss Nashville as much as I did when it went on hiatus. Nice to get back into the world of what they are trying to pass off as "country". It's more rock than anything else and I am 100% fine with that. More please. I think the best part about this episode was Avery firing his band because it's the only way he could land a recording contract. Why is this the best part? Isn't that harsh? Yes it is, and that's why it's going to be all the more sweeter when Scarlett and his old band end up making it big time and he is tossed out like yesterdays newspaper when things don't go the way he planned. Karma is a b*tch!

It was kind of cool to see that the Rayna / Juliette Tour was kicking off in San Diego and they had come cool airel shots of the city, but I never heard about the show shooting here. It would have been all over the news if they did in fact come to the city. Also, what they were passing off as the Arena didn't look anything like the San Diego Sports Arena. Maybe it was, but they would have had to do some serious remodeling of the interior because it didn't look anything at all like what I remember it to be.

Anyway, the best story line for this one and one that got barely any traction was Avery's arc. Now that he is being wooed, the hook is who is trying to screw him over with regards to his contract. They are setting up his Manager as the gold digger looking out for herself and the Music Producer as the one trying to get Avery to sign a questionable contract. For the benefit of the show, they have to have it where he does in fact sign a bad contract so that we can see him fail after screwing over his former band and friends.

It took awhile, but they finally got around to giving the fans of the show a perfect episode that sums up what makes this show so great. It's really starting to come together on a lot of fronts. This has become a great Soap Opera now with concurrent story lines crossing over to others. The best part of this episode comes at the end when Deacon joins Juliette band to the horror of Rayna. Double down! Bam! Also, I got some sick thrill at seeing the egg on Avery's face when he discovers that his old band has now joined forces with Scarlett and Gunner. Double down again! Hahaha. Sucks to be you Mr. I-got-a-free-car-instead-of-a-signing-bonus!!

This is turning out to be the soapiest of all Soap Opera's and I love it. A lot of sh*t went down in this episode. Avery gets his ass kicked by Gunner and rightly so. Juliette on the advice from Deacon decides to try something different with her set, much to the dismay of her Tour Manager. Teddy cheats on Rayna with Peggy and Deacon locks lips with Rayna after spending the entire episode p*ssed off at her. Totally was not expecting that. The kicker is that at the end of the episode, Teddy ask Rayna for a divorce. All in all, a fantastic episode. If there is one person that is sure not to like this episode it's Britney Spears. I think the whole "Juliette trapped in her image" is a direct dig at Spears herself.

Think about it, how long as Spears been in the business? And in all that time has she ever done anything equal to musical ambition? Nope. She just keeps doing the same sh*t over and over, relying on dancers to take focus off the fact that she just can't sing and it nothing more than a spectacle, which is what Juliette is on the show.

Loved the temper tantrum meltdown by resident Diva Juliette when she admonishes her band and dancers to lay down the law of who is boss. Why did I like the scene? Probably because it shines a light on every single 'one hit wonder' currently in the music business that thinks they are better than they really are. She's gonna have to wise up because she is going to find herself all alone when the fame fades....TV show or not. The return of Gunner's brother into the fold looks like it could add a nice bump of tension, especially since he is still carrying around that gun he said he got rid of. Not sure what to make of Rayna deciding to lean on the shoulder of the guitar player/producer instead of running to Deacon.

I was actually surprised that they got rid of Gunner's brother as fast as they did. I figured that they would used this as a source of friction with him harassing Gunner and Scarlett for awhile. Certainly didn't foresee this. But then again, maybe this was the writers intent all along. There had to be something big enough to finally push Gunner and Scarlett together and move their story along faster.

A couple of really good scenes and a really good twist at the end. Loved the scene when Rayna calls up Juliette and chews her ass out for not taking responsibility for causing the stampede that resulted in kids getting injured at her "private" show. It was awesome. Also cool was seeing Avery finally step up for once, stealing the master tapes and then burning them. Country/Dubstep? Really? Ack! The good twist at the end had Scarlett getting signed to a record deal....as a solo artist. I wonder how Gunner is gonna react to this or will Scarlett stand her ground and demand a contract from him as well?

Best part of the episode was Rayna's girls getting to sing. But it was the setup that made it work so perfectly. Having Rayna constantly trying to dissuade them from wanting to get into the same ruthless business, only to realize that they were going to go down that path was a foregone conclusion. Having her finally giving them her support and turning over the stage to them to perform on with all the trimmings, including her band was pretty damn cool. Even the song was good.

Nice twist with Peggy turning out to be the one that leaked the news of Teddy and Rayna's divorce. Having Lamar be the one to turn the screws on Peggy to blackmail her into doing his bidding was also good. But what happens now when it seems like they just killed Lamar off with an apparent heart attack?

I never thought I'd find myself rooting for Avery, especially given the fact that he was a dick when the show started. So, how do you end up rooting for him then? Put an even bigger dick on the show. That would be Dante, the one that is basically worming his way into Juliette's inner circle and by the end of the episode is officially her manager. I liked that Deacon got in his face and is calling him out on his sh*t. Some interesting stuff in this episode, but overall it was just average. Not really a fan of Gunner and Scarlett as a couple. It's boring and slows the action down. The new guy (cowboy) is definitely a bad seed and I see him purposely trying to get Gunner to stray so that Scarlett dumps him so he can move in on her.

This episode had a crazy energy to it as a lot of stuff was going on. Where to start? How about Juliette? Payback is a b*tch! The character is dumb. As in she is stupid to not see that she was being played by her "Boyfriend/Manager". So she is now out a cool $500K. Payback indeed. So, Rayna and Deacon are now together. But I can tell you right now, it won't last long. They will be over by the end of the upcoming episode. The biggest shock for me is in realizing that I was suddenly pulling for Avery. I wouldn't object to Avery and Scarlet getting back together. Why? He is showing remorse and well, Gunner is just a straight up dick. Both characters have flipped in the opposite direction. It's only fitting that he now has to deal with that Cowboy dude for hitting on him. Haha. Lame.

Juliette's meltdown was awesome, although I was expecting and hoping for something along the lines of her falling off the stage or something embarrassing like that. Things are only going to get worst for her now that it looks like she is going to be blackmailed with what appears to be a forthcoming sex tape. So, who's gonna be the hero of the day? Who's gonna rescue her? My money is on Avery.

So, what's Rayna's big secret? My money is on her oldest daughter actually being Deacon's. The conversation that Rayna had with Teddy pretty much said he is. But, it could be a little misdirection on the part of the writers. We will just have to wait and see, won't we?

Nashville has more 'Revenge" machinations than the actual series Revenge. It seems more organic and well-thought out here, whereas Revenge seems to be pulling story ideas out of their  asses. I never would have thought that the show would actually go down more along the lines of Revenge, especially with murder and political backstabbing. But I am enjoying it because of those elements. Definitely better as a whole compared to the second season of Revenge, that's for sure. Nashville for the win!

Best episode of Revenge evah! I mean Nashville. Hayden Panettiere OWNED this one from start to finish. Talk about a cliffhanger to end Season 1 on. This was a doozy. So much sh*t went down that it was actually a bit overwhelming. You have Deacon finding out about the daughter he never knew existed. He finds out Rayna has been lying to him for 13 years. You have him going on a bender to end all benders. You have a marriage proposal from Gunner to Scarlet. You have Teddy finding out that he's gonna be a father with his 'mistress'. You have the Feds looking to take down Lamar. And you have Deacon and Rayna ending the episode with a major car wreck. With all that, this one was easily Hayden's crowning moment. That girl can flat out act. Emmy worthy if there ever was one.
