I'm fond of A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors for one reason and one reason alone. This was the movie that introduced me to Patricia Arquette and I have been a fan of hers ever since. If you know me, you know that I think everything she has done since then has been aces high. This too has been a long time coming. I think the last time I saw Dream Warrior was probably late 80's for sure. I saw it a few times when it came out and liked it mainly because of Arquette.

So, how does this one hold up? Pretty good. There were some hokey "special fx" that even then looked stupid, especially the fight sequence between Freddy Bones and Dr. Neil Gordon and Donald Thompson. But then again, there was some pretty cool FX that still look pretty damn cool in today's time. I'm referring to the Freddy Puppet that jumps off the wall. This is without a doubt the 2nd best Elm Street film, right after A Nightmare on Elm Street (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/dvd's-blu-rays/a-nightmare-on-elm-street-(1984)/msg12977/#msg12977).

This is definitely worth a Rent, just don't expect many 'scare' moments since Freddy is now a "funny man", cracking wise.

Dokken - Dream Warriors

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtR6IrvxeFs

Of course I was a huge fan of Dokken and the song when this came out. It STILL kick ass. What I really dig about the video, especially back in 1987 was the fact that they had actors from the movie appear in it. Props to Patricia Arquette and Robert Englund for taking the time out of their schedule to make a video that is one for the ages.

not really a fan of the song it's not bad....but not my personal taste for rock/metal as you know....Dokken is probably the best part in the build up to the chorus.

and don't give the actors props dude.

they get paid to show up....one of the reasons videos started costing so much money to make was probably scale paid cameos (which bands really couldn't afford as time proved)....and why Dokken ended up being broke at the end of their careers....they spent more than they made

:)

you know what I mean though....videos at that point had gone way past the point of self indulgence (I blame the labels) but they basically ripped off bands trying to do these movie (not meaning songs from movies) but you know....movie quality 5 minute clips....with the same budget a MOVIE would cost for that amount of time and set up.

the poor bands went a long with it...but trust me that money came right off the top of their earnings and for sure their pockets.

really sucks labels are so **** up in that respect.

they got rich fat and over paid...and basically took a ride on the shoulders of hard working musicians who really at the end of the day only wanted to rock

:)

Can't say that Dokken is a victim here because Don helped write the music score for the film. He had a vested interest in the films success. Now when I say 'music', I'm talking about the musical score. Not referring to the Dokken songs that were featured in the movie. But I do get what your saying. This was the status quo back in the day for movie/music video tie-ins. But in this case, it was Don's idea.

but you know thinking further.

a great video would guarantee a great tour and the profits I bet far out weighed the expense of the video....

so I actually stand corrected.  I remember David Coverdale saying with the first couple of HUGE Whitesnake videos came out...they went from playing small theaters to huge arenas headlining and selling millions of records.

Vinnie Vincent Invasion (Feat Mark Slaughter) - Love Kills

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZC2LiVhehg

The success of Dream Warrior's and the video got Vinnie Vincent another paying gig when they were ask to do the lead single for A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master. So, it already was helping other bands, however short-lived VVI was in furthering the gospel of Heavy Metal in mainstream media. And yes, I too dig the song and video. Vinnie as Kruger for the win!!!!

the music is for sure more interesting on this track....would have been interesting to just hear this live without all the production and overdubbed vocals etc.

I bet it would be mega powerful.

but this song to me is WAY better.

Of the two, this is my personal fave, but I don't discount Dream Warrior's. George has a great finger picking intro. It's subtle, but it sets the songs tone nicely. Don's vocals were great and the solo to me is one of George's best. As for Love Kills, THIS is what could have been with VVI. With Vinnie in check, he can write some great songs and his solo fits the song and not the other way around.
