This is NOT a Review

I've never bothered to pick up her debut album in large part because she has said that she was very unhappy with it. Personally, I have heard one song and that was when I saw the video a couple of times when it first came out. I really didn't think it was all that. I actually just dismissed her as another "flavor of the week" that wouldn't amount to anything as far as a career. Boy, did I ever miss the mark on that one.

I do think eventually I will get around to picking this up because I'm a completest. But right now, it's not a priority here.

Horrible cover IMO. Just....ugh.

Back in the day I was very much into the Dance/Night Club scene. My name is Chip and I'm a Clubber. Well, former Clubber anyways. So, this was one of those guilty pleasure CD's. I picked it up for the ultimate party song (at the time it was): Get The Party Started, as it was constantly being played in every club I went to. Earworm. It got stuck and never left.

When I picked up the album, I figured the whole thing would be exactly like that song. Wrong. It's so much more than that. So much better than I would have ever guessed. I was actually shocked at how good of a singer P!nk is. She has a very bluesy, smokey sounding voice, that just takes you places. I can and still do, listen to this with headphones at night in the dark when I just want to veg and not do anything.

A lot of the songs have tell-tale beats that definitely mark the time of when it came out. Just a quick listen to Respect and you will know what I'm talking about. Luv the song because of it too. 18 Wheeler probably has the best vocal harmonies on the entire album.

Faev Songs: Don't Let Me Get Me, Just Like A Pill, Family Portrait, Lonely Girl, My Vietnam (totally dig the star spangled banner that plays out. Channeling Jimi a lil bit on this one).

And the showstopper of them all...Misery (featuring Steven Tyler). You want just one song to sum up her enormous vocal talent, this is the one. Amazing. I'm not a singer, Not even close. I don't sing, period. But when this song is on, it makes me want to become one. A close 2nd would be Eventually.

Nothing more to really add to my original review. I stand behind the 10 star rating 100%. Dear Diary is spinning right now. This album as a whole is just a perfect blend of different styles and beats. On paper, it shouldn't work. But here it absolutely does. This is gonna be a fun marathon for me for the next few days.

Just checked the original review post date. Wow, almost a year to the day. I thought at most it had been 6 months since I last listened to this.

Album cover ftw! Front and back. Yummy.  ;D

It's really a toss up which I like better. This album or Misunnderztood. This is a great follow up to a mega hit album. And it's not a rehash or a sequel. It would have been so easy to fall into that trap. But P!nk manage to create another completely original disc full of great songs that have tons of hooks and great vocals.

I think the majority of people that have never really listened to P!nk, just assume that she is bubble gum pop and unfortunately get's lumped in with the likes of Britney and Christina, based on the videos she releases. I understand that the record company wants hits and will of course go with what they think will appeal to the masses of 15 year olds. But the rest of her album is actually very introspective and deep. Very layered, and far from what I would call bubble gum pop. This is as good as it gets. Just plain and simple...awesome stuff from her.

Personal faves: Trouble, God Is A DJ, Last To Know, Tonight's The Night, Catch Me While I'm Sleeping, Save My Life. Catch Me While I'm Sleeping is still my favorite from Try This and is clearly the MVP here. But Waiting For Love is a close 2nd. Just so many great ****ing songs on here.

Awesome cover btw.

Be sure to pick up the Uncensored version of the album to score the hidden track: ****. That P!nk sure has a filthy mouth.  ;D

After two straight flawless albums (M!ssundaztood and Try This), P!nk obviously had something live up to. This is a good album, but IMO, slightly below the other 2. Great songs, and hooks. But I think it just didn't seemed to flow in the same way as the others did. But I still recommend I'm Not Dead to anyone out there looking for something to listen too. I actually gave this one an even lower rating (from 4 Stars to 3 1/2 Stars) since the last time I listened to this one. Like I said before, it just doesn't jell as a whole to my ears. Some really great songs here. But it just doesn't measure up to Missundaztood and Try This.

Runaway and Leave Me Alone (I'm Lonely) are still the best on here though. Cuz I Can was the final single released for this album. But alas there's no cover art as it was released as a digital download only.

Personal faves: Nobody Knows, Dear Mr. President, Leave Me Alone (I'm Lonely), Runaway, and I Got Money Now.

My biggest fear was that this would be where things would go downhill with her next record. How wrong I was in that.

I can't recall any artist, let alone a female one at that, that has had a streak of relevant, near perfect releases that just don't suck. P!nk, once again knocks it so far out of the park, that she may have done the impossible: Not being able to top this album: Funhouse. P!nk had alot to measure up to with both M!ssundaztood and Try This. I'm Not Dead, although a very good record, just wasn't perfect. This was where I was "ok, this is where the downward slide of the artist begins". My fears were quickly dispelled after the first 3 songs for Funhouse. And then it got reeeeeallly good.

Personal Fave: "So What", "Sober", "I Don't Believe You", "One Foot Wrong", "Please Don't Leave Me", "Mean" and "Glitter In The Air". But the MVP goes to "Ave Mary A". Luv it.

I'm always playing P!nk's stuff and I'm a huge fan of M!ssundaztood and Try This, but right now, I gotta go with this as the best of the bunch. This is rock music with some ballads thrown in. Not bubble gum pop music like those of Britney and Christina.

I ordered her 2 Concert DVD's the other day. Can't wait to get them.  Should arrive today or tomorrow.

I stand behind my original 10 star rating for Funhouse. This is just good **** all around. She doesn't repeat herself anywhere on the album. Each song is a complete original and instantly recognizable. There are a handful of songs that could have easily been hit singles if the record company ever chose to release them as such. Ave Mary A is one of them that absolutely should have gotten a push.

Please Don't Leave Me, Mean and Ave Mary A are still tops in my book from this one.

Yes. Yes I would.

You know. Gaga doesn't need all that sh*t that she is bringing with the costume changes. She can actually write good songs and can sing. It's the whole image thing as the "selling point" that makes me not take her serious as an artist. Madonna did it first and was a trend setter. Gaga is coming off as a pale imitation.

Once Bieber shaves his head, I might listen to a song of his all the way through.

Oh, P!nk ftw! This is HER thread, damn it! And she must be the last thing I post here.  ;D

Yes, Pink will be the last thing, but she's just starting.

I heard my second Gaga song this weekend. I'm not impressed one bit... by her music writing, but especially by her voice. I think the song was Pokerface. Good gawd, that kind of song could have been done by anyone. But she is part of the pop formula today and millions of folks buy off on that crap.  :-\

VH1′s 100 Greatest Women In Music (Complete List) (http://www.vh1.com/music/tuner/2012-02-13/vh1s-100-greatest-women-in-music-complete-list/)

P!nk at #10. Not bad considering who she is a ahead of. But the Top 10 is definitely questionable. Personally, I would have P!nk in the Top 3 and certainly ahead of singers like Lady Gaga, Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, Beyoncé and Janet Jackson.

P!nk is back in the studio working on her next album

Quote
New mom P!nk has overcome writer's block and is preparing to release her first album in four years.

The hitmaker admitted in November that she was having trouble coming up with catchy pop music since giving birth to daughter Willow last June, because she had lullabies on the brain.

She told Eonline.com, "She stops crying when I sing. I sing You Are My Sunshine and I make up songs for her because I'm goofy. (But) I promised my fans I wouldn't write an album full of lullabies."

Now, three months later, Pink appears to be back in career mode - the singer has posted a photo of her newly-dyed pink hair on Twitter and revealed she's working on the follow up to 2008's "Funhouse."

She writes, "Okay the hair is the palest pink.... You know what that means!!!!!!!! NEW RECORD TIME! Let's get to making some tuuuunes. Looney tunes."

The 100 Most Influential People in the World

Adele by P!nk

Quote
Turn on any radio station in the world and you will probably hear Adele. Go to Mars right now and I'm pretty sure if there is life on that planet, they're playing Adele. And for good reason.

There are a few artists in my life who I can think back and remember where I was when I first heard them. When you're so utterly moved by something that you know you'll never be the same again. When I first heard Adele, I was on tour, alone in a hotel room in London, watching her sing from a rooftop on YouTube — a song called "Hometown Glory." I thought, Who is this creature? This voice! Her tone! Why is the entire world not watching this video?

I'm always so happy when the world catches on to something great. Especially when it's authentic talent, great songwriting and a unique package. I am so relieved that Adele possesses the kind of beauty that she does, that she's crass and funny and that she sings live — and incredibly. Her success renews hope in me that the world I live in has good taste — that we still occasionally come back to what's simple, and simply amazing. I can't wait to hear what she does next.

'Listening back on this album, I realize I must be happier [and] it's kind of scaring me,' Pink tells about The Truth About Love

Quote
By now, you are probably aware that Pink has officially returned with "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)," a song that, like most of her signature hits, doesn't pull any punches — except, as it turns out, when it comes to its title.

"My new single is called 'Blow Me.' ... I believe the record company added the '(One Last Kiss)' " Pink told MTV News. "The moment I heard it and it was finished, I thought, 'This is the song at 2 a.m., in New York, dancing, drunk, letting off steam.' I could picture all my punk-rock friends dancing and singing along on the dance floor."

While she may have relented on the title, Pink still believes that "Blow Me" hits its mark (even if it does so rather drunkenly), but even she will admit that it's not exactly the best introduction to her upcoming The Truth About Love album. Mostly because, as has been the case throughout her career, her albums aren't really the kinds of things that can be introduced — properly, or otherwise.

"It's always funny for me with first singles; even my dearest, most loyal fans are always like 'I hate her first single choice.' Always. Because it's really hard for one song to represent a whole Pink album, because a whole Pink album doesn't make sense. The only common thread is my voice," she explained. "You're going to have rock and roll, you're going to have R&B. You're going to have a country ballad and a folk song and a pop, Max Martin, radio-friendly hit. So I think that's kind of the mystery bag, that's what's fun.

"Although, listening back on this album as a whole thing, it's still a clusterf---, but I realize I must be happier, because it's a lot of dancing and rock and roll," she laughed. "I don't know, it's kind of scaring me."

And while there are no shortage of good times on Love, Pink said the album takes its title — and, really, its themes — from one of its most personal tracks: a song she wrote about her lifelong struggles to find a connection, and, even when she finally did, trying to come to terms with that fact. So, yes, while she may finally be happy, she's not exactly happy about that fact.

"The Truth About Love is one of my favorite songs on the record, but I realized it also sums up my whole adventure in this lifetime. I used to be really motivated to do really dangerous and stupid things for love, and I was really fearful of love," she said. "When I was a little girl, 'love' meant fighting and bickering and losing your parents. But now love is also having a child and unconditional and beautiful and, with my husband, sexual. Musically, it's not a Sade record, where you know what you're going to get when you put it on. It's a Pink record; you have no idea what you're going to get. I don't know what I'm doing when I go in to record an album, so I think that's the theme: questions and experiences and running from — and running to — love."

An EW interview with Pink: The star on her 'F-- You' account and why she'll never do a reality show

Quote
Watch your back, Suze Orman: There’s another tough-talking platinum blond dispensing sound financial advice.

In an interview in the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly (on stands today) the 32-year-old pop iconoclast reveals that, on the advice of her former label head (and current X Factor judge) L.A. Reid, she maintains a special “F— You” account where she deposits more than half of her earnings. “When I first started, L.A. Reid said, ‘Make sure you put money into your F- - - You account. That’s the account that, one day when people ask you to do things you don’t want to do, you say “F- - - you.” ’ I make sure that my F- - - You account is okay, so that you never have to make decisions based on money. I feel like that’s where people kill their careers.”

The “Blow Me (One Last Kiss)” singer says it’s one of the ways she measures whether her career is going well. “I’m never the kind of person who’s sitting at home reading the charts and basing how I feel about myself or even my career on stats. I’ve always based it on, Am I doing the best that I can do? And how’s my F- - - You account?”

Pink, whose The Truth About Love is due Sept. 18, also says unequivocally that she will never sign on to appear on a reality show. “It’s not gonna happen. It’s not that I don’t want to do one, it’s just out of spite for everyone else doing one and it being so f- - -ing annoying. I believe that ours would be very entertaining, but no thank you. I’ve been asked to do American Idol and X Factor. I’m an Ed McMahon kind of girl. Star Search? I’m in, all day long. It felt more authentic, and the market wasn’t oversaturated with karaoke -contests. It’s just not for me.”

Pink - The Truth About Love - LIMITED EDITION CD Includes 4 BONUS Tracks : "My Signature Move", "Is This Thing On?", "Run", "Good Old Days" (http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i266/Chiprocks1/Star%20Ratings/HTL_05star.gif)

When this went on sale last week, I searched for reviews of the EXTENDED edition. I found one. The first thing it said was the 4 extra songs are not throw aways. The are as good as the rest of the album. I bought the TARGET version based on that.

I got to listen to it several times over this time and it's true. The 4 extra songs measure up to the rest of album that is just so well done. Pink's song writing is all over and explores many different styles. While she treads on Pop, this is not Katy Perry pop. Truth About Love delivers. The title song actually sounded a bit cheerleader like. Reminded me of Toni Basil's Mickey or “Hollaback Girl” by Gwen Stefani. That's probably unfair for me to say that. Don't want you to think that way or that's bad. I liked it.

Two of the songs she does a duet with Nate Ruess and  another with Lily Rose Cooper (formerly Lily Allen).

Despite motherhood, most of her songs are about her passionate ideas coming from the stormy relationship with her now husband. Which honestly brings out the best in Pink, like it did with Adele.

Looking at the credits, I noticed her producer Greg Kurstin does just about everything including playing all the instruments. Where do people get that talent.

Buy this album and make sure to get the extended edition so you don't miss out.

I've had a chance to really listen to this a handful of times without any interruptions so that I could soak it all up. But as much as I've given this a good workout and as much as I want to believe the hype that this is the best thing P!nk has put out, it's not. The Truth About Love is a great album, but it's not perfect, in large part because of one song that I just can't for whatever reason, get into.

The album starts off amazing and is one of the strongest collection of songs. But when it gets to the middle part of the album, namely Here Comes The Weekend featuring Eminem it temporarily loses its momentum. What's crazy is that I use to be a huge fan of Em back in the day. But he really hasn't put out anything lately that would come close to his peak years. This song, for me is the weakest on the album, bar none. It's not that I hate the song, it's just not at the same level of the rest of the album. With that out of the way, onto the best stuff.....

If P!nk wanted to write an anthem that her fans could and should sing along with, she nailed it with Are We All We Are. With Blow Me One Last Kiss, she continues her perfect streak with another radio friendly song that will become one of her biggest hits ever. This song is the one that seems to play over and over in my head all the time with its addictive chorus.

Try reminds me a lot of John Waite's Missing You in it's rhythm and to some extent its melody, intentional or not, I love it. True Love sounds like it could have been on Missundaztood, both lyrically and sonically. Me love long time. How Come You're Not Here has one of the coolest and most additive verses to anchor a song.  S l u t  Like You reminds me of Song 2 by Blur. Maybe a little homage? Whatever the case, it works. The Truth About Love should become a monster hit as it's probably my favorite track on the album. Easily.

Beam Me Up is sure to light up stadiums and arena's across the globe with Bic Lighters. I can see this song taking center stage in the middle of the show with her and her guitar player in a spotlight. It's sure to become a fan fave for sure. It's one of mine already. The Great Escape is another one that fits the bill here as well. For a bonus song, My Signature Move is one of the best ever. How this ended up on the "cutting room floor" is a mystery. Thank goodness for Deluxe Editions.  Anyway, I highly recommend this as a Buy for sure.

"Bringing the show to a halt"? What the f*ck is he b*tching about? It was part of the show!!!! They were paying tribute and it's why Liza Minnelli  and the rest of the family were even there to begin with. So, he clearly is in the minority and wants the Oscars to run a certain way.  I'm surprised he wasn't b*tching about the one thing that did in fact "bring the show to a halt"....COMMERCIALS!

Pink is to receive the BMI President's Award for Songwriting at the BMI Pop Awards in Los Angeles next month.

Quote
Pink is to receive the BMI President's Award for Songwriting.

The 'Just Give Me A Reason' hitmaker has been named as the recipient of the prestigious accolade, which recognises ''outstanding achievement in songwriting and global impact on pop culture and the entertainment industry''.

Speaking about the musician, Barbara Cane, BMI Vice President, said: ''Pink is an extraordinary songwriter whose mastery of craft and passionate artistry has transformed a generation of Pop and Rock music culture around the world

''She has captivated music lovers with her unforgettable, emotional and edgy magnificence of song, voice and performance.''

The 35-year-old performer - who has three-year-old daughter Willow Sage Hart with husband Carey Hart - released her debut solo album 'Can't Take Me Home' in 2000, and has since gone on to release five more solo records.

Her most recent album, released last year, was 'rose.ave' which she recorded with City and Colour's Dallas Green under the duo name You+Me.

The award - which has previously been won by Taylor Swift, Willie Nelson, Adam Levine and Pitbull - will be presented to Pink at the 63rd annual BMI Pop Awards, which will take place at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills on May 12.
