Brandon T. Jackson to Star in ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ TV Show as Axel Foley’s Son (http://screenrant.com/beverly-hills-cop-tv-show-brandon-t-jackson/)

First off, I thought that BHC4 was in the works to hit the Big Screen. But now I hear that CBS is doing the series with Eddie Murphy in line to make a cameo in the Pilot and if the series gets picked up, he will have multiple cameos as the Captain of the Precinct that his son will be working at. Interesting. Not sure if this will have legs given the fact that it would be watered down for broadcast TV. Half the fun was watching Eddie as Axel dropping the F-Bombs.

I give this zero chances of making it based on two reasons...

First, is there anybody (besides the studio) demanding more from the series? Are people just highly anticipating more product. After 25 years, I think folks just have fond memories and otherwise don't even think about it.

Secondly, the Eddie Murphy as Axel Foley makes up a good portion of the success. Very few actors could do what Eddie did. The rest of the success goes to character and the story line.

Sorry, I just don't see it.

I've been wrong before... look at Hawaii Five-O. People love cop shows. (shrug shoulders)

I think there will definitely be a lot of interest in the Pilot just to see what it is Shawn Ryan and Eddie Murphy have up their sleeves. If anyone can do something good, it's Shawn with his track record (The Shield, Last Resort). Do I think this is gonna go the distance like The Shield? No. It will most likely fall by the wayside just like Last Resort did. I think once the initial curiosity factor rubs off, viewers will realize that a series called Beverly Hills Cop without Axel Foley carrying it will just not feel right and people will begin to exit in droves.

The Last Resort is not doing good?

The Last Resort is not doing good?

The Last Resort is f*cking awesome! But it wasn't enough to save it from Cancellation (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/tv/last-resort-(season-1-2012)/msg13985/#msg13985). I guess the public at large prefers dumb comedies with comedians that aren't even funny over well-written shows with top notch actors. Men in Black Director Barry Sonnenfeld to Helm Beverly Hills Cop TV Pilot

Quote
Barry Sonnenfeld, director of all three Men In Black movies, is confirmed to direct and executive produce the Beverly Hills Cop pilot for CBS Television.

This hour-long comedic drama will be a continuation of the feature film franchise starring Eddie Murphy as Axel Foley. Murphy is producing alongside The Shield's Shawn Ryan.

This new series will follow the adventure of Aaron Foley, Axel's son, as he works in taking down the criminal elements of the rich and famous in Beverly Hills while trying to emerge from his dad's long-looming shadow. Brandon T. Jackson has been cast as Aaron, with Eddie Murphy reprising the role of Axel for the pilot. Murphy will continue to appear throughout multiple episodes if the show is picked up to series.

David Denham and Kevin Pollak are also set to appear in the pilot. Beverly Hills Cop is being prepped for a fall launch on CBS.

What I want to see are cameos from Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Lisa Eilbacher, Ronny Cox and Bronson Pinchot. Lisa is highly unlikely though given that she quit the business back in 2000. But this would be a cool way to bring her back, if just for this one time.

Yes, it's really happening... filming on the pilot episode of Shawn Ryan's (The Shield) upcoming Beverly Hills Cop pilot is underway and Ryan has given us our first look at Eddie Murphy's Axel Foley alongside his son Aaron, played by Brandon T. Jackson (Tropic Thunder), with the writer / executive producer tweeting the following behind-the-scenes image:

Series cancelled

The series has been officially canned. No networks want it.

But they are now working on a 4th installment.

Even before I looked inside this thread, I KNEW you were going to post that it got the ax without having heard a single word about the series. I just didn't think it could or would work being watered down for prime time. I wonder what the 4th turn will be like. Picking up the thread of what the series would have been or going somewhere else completely with lots and lots of F-bombs. Hopefully.
