I can't believe that it's been probably 3-4 years since I last watched this. What's crazy is that I own the movie on DVD and whenever I'm browsing my personal DVD library looking for something to watch, I will see my copy just sitting there. I always say "this will be a great one for tomorrow". Anyway, I'm glad I popped this one in tonight. It's just a great f*cking movie....for a lot of reason. First and foremost, the accolades heaped on Good Will Hunting start with the writing. We all know that Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are the brains behind writing the script. Contrary to the myth about William Goldman being called in to doctor up the screenplay has never been a concern for me, nor have I ever believed it anyway.

Along with a great script, there are some amazing scenes, especially involving Robin Williams. I'm talking about monologues that you just don't see all that much anymore and the fact that there a few in the same movie makes this a very memorable one for me. Not to be outdone, Damon gets to shine in quite a few scenes himself. What I love about the monologue scenes is that they really do reveal a lot about the character. With Robin, especially when he puts Damon (Will Hunting) in his place and calls him out on his sh*t, you learn so much about Robin's character without actually being hit over the head with "this is my life story....". I just think that this in itself is a great character piece and should be mandatory viewing when you want to learn how to write characters and the proper way to reveal things about them. Without revealing anything for those that have never seen this (highly unlikely) is the ending. It's a great ending that has 3 arcs reaching their conclusions in a extremely satisfying way.

Is there any doubt in your mind that I would say that this is a Buy? Well, it is. Now go watch this! I remember leaving the theater knowing that Damon and Affleck's career would become big. I just didn't think they would become HUGE like they eventually became.
