Who in the world is looking for Zombies
This Google map that displays who in the world is Google searching the term "Zombies". The Oxford Internet Institute created the map to show just what parts of the world reference the term "zombies" by way of their Googling habits. As one can see from the map, most of the world doesn't care about the living dead trend, though as one might have been able to guess, the higher concentration of zombie fascination is located primarily in the Anglophone world, in population areas of higher concentration, such as big cities. Interestingly, Africa barely has any zombie interested, even though that is from where the word originates. - Geekosystem (http://www.geekosystem.com/map-displaying-who-googles-zombies/).

My guess is that 95% of all Zombies searches in the US originates from your PC. Just sayin'. ;D

Google Maps (http://maps.google.com/) gets 8-bit NES treatment
(http://i.usatoday.net/communitymanager/_photos/game-hunters/2012/03/31/google-maps-nesx-wide-community.jpg)
a fantastic April Fools' joke.
Head over to the main page for the Internet giant's maps tool. In the upper right corner, click on Quest and turn Google Maps into an 8-bit, classic video game wonderland.
"Our engineering team in Japan understood the importance of maps on retro game systems," writes Tatsuo Nomura, software engineer with Google Maps, at the application's official blog. "With the power of Google's immense data centers, and support from Nintendo and Square Enix, we were able to overcome the technical and design hurdles of developing 8-bit maps. Today, we're excited to announce the result: a version of Google Maps for NES, with beautiful low-res graphics, simple and intuitive controls, and a timeless soundtrack."
The maps pay homage to the classic NES role-playing game Dragon Warrior, which was known as Dragon Quest in Japan.
Users can even view landmarks in 8-bit form, including The Statue of Liberty, the Washington Monument and Mount Rushmore. Fortunately, no Slimes were encountered during our journey.
Google has also posted a great video walkthrough on YouTube of the spoof application for NES, including troubleshooting tips such as "blowing on the cartridge."

Ok... What is autocomplete?
I've never had first hand experience with it, but I think it's along the lines of those auto-fills like when your browser ask you to insert your name, address, phone number, etc... every time you fill out a document on a site.

Google Street View Hyperlapse
http://vimeo.com/63653873
Hyperlapse photography is super hard to do, but the results are just incredible. Combining the sequential shooting of time lapse photography with carefully controlled camera movements—often over huge distances—hyperlapse photography transports you through stunning vistas at an unreal speed. Watching one gives you the sense of cruising along atop a speedy motorcycle, blowing through the landscape at top gear. Careful pans of the camera let you focus on a point of interest. Pointing dead ahead gives you that rush of speed.
But where hyperlapse videos are gorgeous, they’re also hard to pull off. The folks at Teehan+Lax Labs, says The Verge, released a free web tool to let you build hyperlapse videos using the images captured by Google’s street view cameras.
Google’s photos aren’t as stunning as you’ll get from a custom hyperlapse, but as the video above shows, the results can be quite spectacular.

Gives new meaning to the term 'Fun With Google'. We all knew this was coming. I'm just shocked it took as "long" as it did in getting here.

'That' industry has always been know to be innovative. They've set and dictated the standard on many issues, in particular internet finances, subscriptions, flash and other industrial tools. This will be just another avenue to add to it.
I'm with Ana though. Don't even stand next to me wearing one of those.
-
I can't tell if this is quietly coming in or it's bigger than we know (the demand has already stopped Google from offering the free 3 month Netflix). My son told me about it for the first time the other night. I thought it sounded awesome. The more I looked into, I think it still has potential for being something very big, it's just not there for me.... yet
Chromecast
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nOE9UiPJNo
The attached article gets into all the particulars with Pros and Cons. I'm being cautious now... like I was with the iPad, but that's just me. I know you're thinking it's just $35. True, but even on $35, I'm looking for value. Hell, I've got everything cable provides, but 90% is useless for me. I do like what works for me, so I'm not so sure at this point in time, Chromecast adds value to my life. I'm sure that will change. Keep an eye out for this.
What Chromecast needs to go from good to great (http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-33199_7-57595754-221/what-chromecast-needs-to-go-from-good-to-great/)

I wanted to go downtown today and I got lost last time, so I got directions on Google Maps and wound up practicing the drive a couple times through streetview, making sure I knew how to get right there and back again... and I realized wait, I could drive cross-country or something this way... I should do that!
Right now I'm trying to think of places to explore on Streetview... we're so close to just having the whole world in VR, I wanna go into the buildings I'm coming across.
-
I thought that was possible with the buildings. Isn't that starting to become available?
I heard something about that like a year ago.
