You can't have a Jodie Foster marathon without including Bugsy Malone in it. Even though she has a small part, she does in fact own every scene that she is in. I still remember the day that I saw this in the theater like it was yesterday. It was actually part of a double feature that night with the opening movie being The Blue Bird with Shirley Temple of all things. Anyway, this movie is my guilty pleasure and one that I've watched thousands of times ever since that night.

The movie isn't meant to be taken seriously. It's suppose to be fun and entertaining, which it still is to this day for me. The movie was HUGE among us kids at my elementary school. We all wanted the Splurge Gun. Even now, I still want one. Not only that, I want my very own Pedal Car!!! The movie is an original and will never be duplicated with a cast made up entirely of kids with Scott Baio as Bugsy Malone and Jodie Foster as Tallulah as the "big stars". But there are plenty of great characters in this one and I gotta point out that John Cassisi as Fat Sam, Martin Lev as Dandy Dan and Florrie Dugger as Blousey Brown as scene stealers.

Good luck getting this on DVD. It doesn't exist as an actual USA-made DVD. You will have to get them overseas or on eBay as an import. As for me, I'm still sitting on my VHS copy. FYI, I didn't post the image for the VHS Cover because there wasn't any decent enough scans online. In its place, I went with the Movie Poster in all its awesome glory.

For my review of the actual Bugsy Malone Soundtrack, you can find it here (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/music/soundtracks-musical-scores-discography/msg9287/#msg9287).

I love these types of Movie (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/dvd's-blu-rays/the-breakfast-club-(1985)/msg1936/#msg1936) and TV Reunions (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/tv/tv-cast-reunions/msg2479/#msg2479) and this is probably my all time favorite for sure. There's something very cool about big stars like Jodie Foster and Scott Baio agreeing to do something like this and actually participating in the doc. It's very cool to see Fat Sam's old Gang reuniting and then actually reenacting their Song and Dance number for 'Bad Guys'. But the crown jewel in the doc is definitely the reunion of Jodie, Scott, John and Florrie coming face to face for the first time in over 30 years for a round table discussion. The doc gets major brownie points for getting the 4 of them to actually sing 'You Give a Little Love'. It's awesome. I highly recommend you check this out.
