Female ‘Expendables’ Confirmed; Big-Name Actresses in Talks (http://screenrant.com/female-expendables-movie/)
Hehehehehehe. I'm giddy like a school girl at the news of this. I just may have to lift my ban on going to see movies in the theater just for this. I had no idea that this was even in the works.

'The Expendables' To Get Female Spinoff Called 'The ExpendaBelles'
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sim7PPT_yBg
Now I just found out that there are actually 2 competing films with the same idea. One from the producer of The Expendables and one from another producer with no association with the franchise. Although the idea of 2 would seem like a win-win, I actually don't like that idea because it will water down each one in the talent pool. I rather the A-Lister stick with the official franchise. People like Sigourney Weaver and Linda Hamilton, Uma Thurman, etc....belong in the official release.

Robert Luketic to Direct "Female Expendables"

There's a big kerfuffle about one of the plot elements of the story, (http://www.bleedingcool.com/2014/02/06/exclusive-more-plot-details-for-the-expendabelles-robert-luketic-to-direct/) and I have to say that I'm not a fan of the idea on the surface. You just know that it wouldn't even be a suggestion with the guys. Now, maybe it's a thing where it's the best idea that they came up with and found a way to make it work, but it sounds like a cheap go-to and just demeaning. And it's really saying something for ME to say that.

The 'High Class Call Girls' angle is a joke. At least I hope it is. They (the Studio) can't think that they are going to get Big Name actresses to sign on for something so shallow are they. Really? That the BEST you can come up with? Mark my words, if they actually go forward with this plot, it won't surprise me one bit that the "biggest" name you will find attached to this movie would be someone "famous" from a Reality TV show.

I think... the problem is that you have to play this to people's expectations and assumptions (despite what they say about what happens when you assume), and the assumption is that this would be JUST like the male Expendables. And this is something that would NEVER fly in the male Expendables. "Oh, those guys with the squinty eyes, the big muscles and the tattoos? Total s l u t s." Yeah, no one would buy it. And that's why you don't put it in this movie.
I feel like a bit of a hypocrite b/c normally I don't have a problem when this idea is used, you see it on Dollhouse and probably a bunch of other episodic shows, it's a ratings grabber thing. But here it just seems even more cheap and pointless.
And I gotta ask, who's sending a plane-load of high class hookers to a remote dictatorship? Who the hell set that up? What WORLD does this take place in?

Sigourney Weaver Says No to Expendabelles - IGN News
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkmpTiX-Tpo
I'm beginning to think this spin-off is already DOA. If they can't secure A-List talent, they are going to rely on C-Lister's and you know how that's gonna fare.

And... The series has quickly run out of steam.

I think for this to have had any chance of working, they needed to set up Weaver (or whoever would have been carrying the Expendabelles) in TE3. You can't expect the average film-goer to know what is what if there isn't some groundwork being pit down. It would make for a cool transition. Anyway, it doesn't seem to matter anymore given the poor performance of TE3.

I wasn't ever even sure if this movie was actually associated with the Expendables franchise.
