A decent movie and one that Nicolas Cage can be proud of. He can be a great actor when he wants to be and this is exactly the type of movie to do it with. I really wanted more from World Trade Center. What that is, I really don't know. I wasn't expecting this to be a popcorn flick but one that was about the human spirit and what we can do when face with adversity. which is what we get here. The performances were great, but there was something off while watching this. Not sure if it was the pacing or how it was edited or if the direction was at fault. But something kept it from elevating itself to a movie that everyone should see. Maybe having Oliver Stone direct this was out of his comfort zone. He is not one to do "small" films about character and is better suited to over the top films like the ones he made his name and reputation on.

Even before I watched the movie, I knew that having Nicolas Cage and Michael Peņa laying under the rubble for pretty much the entire length of the film would be a tall order to sit through and because of that, I knew that there would be a lot of flashback scenes involving key moments in their lives that they would hang onto to get them through their ordeal. But even with these scenes, I really didn't get a sense of who the characters were though. It's worth a Rent, but nothing more. Good cast though, which includes Maria Bello, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Stephen Dorff, Frank Whaley and Michael Shannon.
