Title: Penny Can's Top Movies Of All Time
Post by: Chiprocks1 on April 06, 2013, 04:32:27 am
I'm kind of surprised that no one has started a thread like this yet on here. So, for the past few months I have been trying to think of what my Top 10 movies of all time would be and whenever I would come up with a list, I would always remember another movie I had forgotten which of course would 'wreck' my current Top 10. And then I remembered The Totally Rad show always using Flickchart (http://www.flickchart.com/) to rank their choices in a scientific way. Now, I don't know how long it's going to take to come up with my Top 10, but here is where my list stands at the moment.....

Superbad
A Beautiful Mind
Starship Troopers
Titanic
The Truman Show
Star Wars
The Last Samurai
Mean Girls
Collateral
E.T.: The Extraterrestrial
The Shawshank Redemption
Face/Off
Shrek
Cloverfield
The Breakfast Club
The Bourne Idedtity
The Princess Bride
Dumb and Dumber
Armageddon
There's Something about Mary

This is nowhere near what my Top 10 List will be. This is just what the list looks like based on the movies I have voted for. So, if you haven't already done so, start ranking and post you list here as they start to take shape and eventually you will have your Top 10 as well.

Mean Girls

The Shawshank ...
Face/Off
Shrek
I Am Legend

My updated list via Flickchart. But something doesn't feel right. I have clicked on Superbad at most...4 times. But I have clicked on District 9 probably 20 times, and yet it's at #2. I dunno. I will see what comes next. The current list is nowhere close to what I have mapped out.

Kinda of along these lines I was thinking about those who collect movies, what Director and/or Star do you have most of?

For instance do you have more movies by Quintin Tarantino than any other? Spielberg, etc.

For example.... Big fan of George Clooney and have more of his movies than any other?

I'm using the 'All Movies' filter. I think for me, doing it by genre or director is too narrow and would affect the overall list. It would be incomplete. I may try the other filters just to speed up the process, but definitely need to finish it off with All Movies though.

I really don't do faves at all, everything has it's own different strength and weaknesses and depending on my mood, a certain movie might be the one thing I need more than air or something I have no time for.  Certainly the movies I revisit the most when I'm down or need a pick-me-up would be movies that have NO business being on a top ten list.
