24 Could Return As A Limited Series On Fox (http://www.cinemablend.com/television/Touch-Cancelled-Two-Seasons-24-Could-Return-Limited-Series-Fox-55529.html)

With the news of Touch being cancelled, hearing that 24 could possibly coming back as a Limited Series (i.e. shorter seasons) has me stoked beyond words. I'm a HUGE fan of the series and would welcome 24 back with open arms. Make this a reality!!!!

So, I was doing a little research on where we are with the production of Live Another Day and discovered a couple of interesting things that I didn't even know about and have nothing to do with the upcoming season. First off, did you know that before A Good Day to Die Hard  (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/movies/die-hard-5/msg1240/#msg1240) came about, that there was talk of a crossover between Jack Bauer and John McClane to star in a movie tentatively titled Die Hard 24/7. I always thought that this would have been a super fun thing to happen as I had thought of this idea way back in Season 1. Obviously it never happened. The other thing that I have learned is that there is an Indian version of 24 staring Anil Kapoor as Jack Bauer. Kinda of strange to picture him in the role when he had a fairly sizable role in Season 8 of the American season as President Omar Hassan. With that said, I'm hoping there is a way for me to check out the remake.

Other news, Mary Lynn Rajskub is in fact returning for the Live Another Day. Duh. Kim Raver is also set to return as well.

24 RETURNS TONIGHT!!!! I'm so happy!!!! I can't believe that it has been 4 years since we last saw Jack Bauer. I'm glad they decided against doing a Big Budget movie. The series and more specifically, the stories thrive in the TV format. All fans of the show will gladly takes 12 hours of Jack Bauer on TV over a 2 hour film. If we can't get 24 hours, I will take 12.

Damn it! Two words have NEVER sounded better than it did tonight. I was waiting for Jack to say his most famous catch phrase. Sure, it took till the very end of the second episode to get it, but it was worth the wait. It gave me a sh*t eating grin when it finally came. Thank God this was a double episode Event Night because one episode would NOT have been sufficient enough for me. Hell, it still wasn't. This was the faster 2 hours ever. So, what about the first two episodes? Was it worth the wait after a 4 year drought? Hell f*cking yeah it was! It looked and felt EXACTLY like vintage 24. Everything was there. The adrenaline, the pacing and the action all hit their marks in classic fashion.

I love that the first episode kept everyone in the dark and they did a great job of what would make Jack Bauer allow himself to get caught by authorities on purpose: to rescue Chloe O'Brian who is being tortured by the same people. Also great is that the main plot of this season isn't even brought forth till the second hour. Another interesting angle is having President Heller who is suffering from an illness that will call into question is ability to lead. Props to adding Yvonne Strahovski and Benjamin Bratt to the cast. So glad that 24 is BACK! Both episodes get 5 Stars out of 5.

I didn't even realize until today that the UK PM is played by Stephen freaking Fry.  The one part of the 24-verse that's actually NICER than our world.

I haven't seen him in ANYTHING since his final episode on Bones. Yikes, that's a long time. I like the casting choice. This is 24, he will absolutely turn into the nastiest, meanest sumb*tch of all time midway through this season. Can't wait!!!

And lets not forget the awesome casting choice of Michelle Fairley either. I was expecting that either. Even though you could see enough of her features while still hidden in the shadows, it was still a great reveal when she turned around to the camera.

Aw crap! My biggest fear happened. This episode was too damn short!!!!! Argh!!!!!! I still can't believe that I'm actually watching 24 again. It's tripping me out that I'm experiencing the same joyful glee that I always got when watching Jack Bauer doing his thing. He makes it look so damn easy in how he can get in and out of some hairy situations and the ending itself was a keeper. So, I imagine that next week will be his confrontation with President Heller and more to the point his reunion with Audrey. I can't wait. One interesting thing happened very early in the episode was Chloe confiding to Jack about what happened to Morris and Preston (her husband and son). It needed some explanation because it didn't make sense that she was alone when Day 9 started. What makes this announcement somewhat eye opening is that I think they just set up what Day 10 could entail (hunting down those responsible for their deaths as Chloe believes it was a hit orchestrated by the US Government. Who doesn't want to see Jack and Chloe exact some revenge against Big Brother?

Day 9: 2:00PM-3:00PM
(http://i.imgur.com/SW1TShG.gif)

We didn't get the reunion that I thought we were going to get at the end of the previous episode. But Audrey does know that Jack is alive and I have a theory of where the story may go. The entire episode was basically a stand off episode where Jack is holed up, trying to decrypt and upload physical evidence about the existence of a drone device that can hack and take control of drones as well as proof of an impending drone attack on London. Jack's chances of getting the evidence out proves pointless because he just didn't have enough time to get it done. In a cool twist of fate, Agent Kate Morgan (Yvonne Strahovski) was able to sneak into the room via vent (which I thought was odd to begin with) and get him to stand down and surrender himself, but that she would take the evidence and run with it herself as she believes in him.

With Bauer in cuffs and heading to lock down, I kinda get the feeling that it's gonna be Audrey that "breaks him out". Well, she will be key in seeing to it that he escapes capture, especially since she stood up for his character when it was being assassination by her husband. I do hope it plays out this way because it would be a great way for her character to get involved in the story and not just have her standing around, being passive. Right now, not really feeling the 'Villains' part of the story, especially in this episode where Mama Villain uses her own Daughter to prove that she's psychotic by cutting off her finger.

Day 9: 3:00PM-4:00PM
(http://i.imgur.com/SW1TShG.gif)

This episode is going to be the easy pay day for Kiefer Sutherland ever. He is barely in this one at all and really doesn't have much to do now that he is being held captive by authorities. You would think if that's the case, the episode would be a bust, right? Nope. It actually gave us a very profound moment when we finally get to see the reunion between Bauer and Audrey. He doesn't show much emotion throughout the series (that is if you count untapped angry toward the bad guys). But to see him on the verge of tears at seeing Audrey was great and they set up that even though she is married, she still loves him. Not sure how they will resolve that, especially in half a day. I don't foresee her breaking up with her husband that fast.

Up till now, Agent Kate Morgan (Yvonne Strahovski) is kind of been on the sideline, even though she was directly responsible for "capturing" Jack Bauer. But this is the episode we finally get to see what she is made of and it's balls of steel. Sh*t man, there was a moment that made Bauer flinch "what the f*ck" at seeing Kate plunge's the syringe into her own neck just to facilitate Bauer's Trojan Horse plan of getting both of them on the inside. But that's nothing compared to what comes next. When the plan goes to sh*t, and she is being tortured, she basically 'Out-Bauer's' the man himself and it was f*cking awesome! Watching her subdue, choke out, escape her shackles and then stab the guy was impressive in the 24 Universe. I hope she sticks around for a long time to give us a female version of Bauer. The ending with Benjamin Bratt's character was expected. I immediately had him pegged as the 'mole'. The phone call implies as much as he clearly has something to do with Kate's husband past.

Episode was okay. This is where things kind of get stretch a bit with filler. I was kinda hoping because of the shorter season this issue would have been dealt with. Apparently not. Not much really happens in the way of moving the story forward. Jack is sent to question the daughter to no avail and then must evacuate the hospital since its a target of the drone strike. The ending with Heller and Margot was kind of anticlimactic for what it was......a staring contest.

24 is famous for killing off popular characters. It's actually why fans continue to flock to the series because you want to see who is going to make it and who isn't. As soon as they said last week that Heller was going to give himself up, it was set. Sure, this episode would be 55 minutes of them trying to save Heller at the 11th hour, but it would prove futile and he would go out in a blaze of glory, which he did. If ya gonna go out, might as well go out on the receiving end of a missile in Wimbley Stadium (or whatever it's called today). Another great scene involved Audrey first finding out that her husband knew that her father was going to surrender himself. The knock out punch was finding out that Bauer is the one that escorted him.

Ooooooooooooooh, snaaaaaaaaaaaap! That was insane and took me totally by surprised and yet, it's classic Bauer. With each successive season he becomes more and more jaded about toeing the line. So, for him to literally throw Margot out the window was epic. What made the scene what it was, was Margot "threatening" Bauer and his response was to just throw her out the window. Kinda reminded me of the classic scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark when Indy just shoots the Sword man.

As I suspected at the end of last weeks episode, President Heller is alive. I just knew that Bauer wouldn't allow harm to come to him. It's not in his nature to let anyone f*ck with a good President. As for the Margot story line, that's a wrap on the Drones. Now it's all about the override device that can breach any security system and that's currently in the hands of Bratt's character. I wonder if Chloe is going to be the one to kill her "boyfriend" who is clearly using her just for her hacking skills, one that he will try to get her to use on the device.

Nice twist at the end with the reveal that the Chinese....or more specifically, Cheng Zhi is behind all this. He has been a thorn in Bauer's side the last 4 seasons. Actually, it's the other way around and that's why Zhi is hellbent on making Bauer pay for his "crimes". Add the Russians into the mix, who also have issues with Bauer as well. The firefight at the end just got started. The final two episodes should be good and it's just a question of who is going to capture Bauer: The Chinese or the Russians.

When Bauer discovered that Mark Boudreau had betrayed him to the Russians, when he contacted Audrey and she gave him his blessing to "do whatever is necessary" to get the information for the location of Cheng Zhi, I thought this was going to be a precursor for Bauer to go all medieval on Mark's ass. That didn't happen at all. As a matter of fact, it was probably the fastest admission of guilt ever on 24 without a single punch being thrown. Was kind of disappointed it didn't happen because their inevitable clash had been building all season long. The ending was pretty good though. Zhi more or less has Audrey in the kill zone. With only one episode left to go, somebody of note has to bite the bullet. It's customary on 24. So, it's either going to be Audrey or Chloe. Naw. It's not going to be either. I think it's going to come down to Mark jumping in front of a bullet to save her life at the expense of his own and somehow Audrey will blame Jack.......again!!!

Day 9: 10:00PM-11:00PM
(http://i.imgur.com/cTZ9poD.gif)

As soon as I saw in the credits that Jon Cassar was directing the episode, I knew I was about to be put through the ringer. Jon has been, by far, the absolute best director 24 has ever had for the entire series run. He gets it. He knows the show backward and forward and more importantly, he knows Bauer and what people want out of the character. Last week I said that the show was going to have to kill off either Audrey or Chloe. It's the nature of the show and since no one of notable stature had died during the season, it was going to come down to those two. Once they saved Audrey from the sniper, I immediately had it all on Chloe. She's the one that's going to bite it! Right when I'm zeroing in on her and the potential victim, that's when they hit Audrey with a second sniper. That's why Jon is a great director. That's what he does to great effect.

Now it was just a matter of waiting for the show to drop when Bauer and President Heller find out the bad news. When Bauer gets the call, I was literally on pins and needles. I was waiting for his 'Aaarrrrrrrrgggghhh!' moment where all that anger finally explodes in rage. Give the man a machine gun and watch him unload on all the bad guys. It was awesome! Once he finally caught Zhi, I knew he was going to do some BIG to avenge Audrey. But even I didn't foresee Bauer literally chopping off Zhi's head. It was awesome! The f*cker had it coming.

So with all this sh*t going down, Chloe is missing. When Bauer gets a cryptic phone call, we are left with "WHO IS BAUER TALKING TO?" Cuts to commercial. It comes back from commercial with a title card that reads '12 Hours Later', which is a first for the series. Wasn't sure how they were going to wrap it up. Turns out the Russians had kidnapped Chloe and had brokered a deal with Bauer, that he would turn himself over to them in exchange for Chloe's freedom. Bauer boards the Helicopter with the Russians, and he seemed content. The end is obviously open-ended.

I really hope 24 comes back. I missed the show being around the last 4 years. But having gotten to ride with Bauer again this year has been great and now I need to have a yearly fix. I still prefer to get the full 24 episodes per season, but that's not likely to ever happen again. So, I will gladly settle for a "measly" 12 episodes. Overall, I thought the season was solid. I think the last half of the season was way better than the first half, which was still great in itself. It's better to end strong which they absolutely did. Very sad and touch moment with President Heller walking alongside Audrey's casket. His monologue at the end was incredibly sad, alluding to his Alzheimer's would wipe away this tragic end to Audrey and eventually would wipe her existence away as well.

Season 9
(http://i.imgur.com/PavQhZ0.gif)

As I said earlier, overall, a very solid season and give Season 9...Day 9....Live Another Day, or whatever you want to call it....4 1/2 Stars.

Kine of odd to see a Panel for a show that has just ended. Usually every panel at Comic Con is to build hype for what's coming. I need to find the full show for myself. I'm glad they did this.
