I am hopeful this can succeed and be something good. It's got the Creator of Fringe / JJ Abrams attached, so you know your getting a certain type of built-in show. Also, you can't go wrong with a cast that includes Karl Urban, Lili Taylor, Mackenzie Crook, Michael Ealy, Michael Irby and the awesome Minka Kelly. My only concern is that this is a show that will have to build an audience and FOX is known for pulling the plug when they don't get immediate results in the ratings.

Almost Human has a lot of Blade Runner, a good heap of Minority Report, and a little bit of Lethal Weapon going for it. Is that a good thing? Yes and no. Yes, it's kinda cool to look at and it all feels familiar. No, it feels a little too familiar as in there isn't any originality to it. The action sequences weren't all that impressive, even for a TV series. The story itself for the Pilot wasn't any spectacular and the characters themselves weren't all that interesting. With that said, I'm still willing to give this series a good shot because I know that most Pilots rarely deliver the goods because everything may look great on paper, is still a work in progress. I do like the cast though with Karl Urban, Michael Ealy, Lily Taylor, Mackenzie Cooke and Minka Kelly. Let's just hope that the writers have something a bit more engaging coming our way in the next few weeks.

If they populate the world that Almost Human with sex-bots, it will go a long way to driving more eyes to the show. How can you not like seeing insanely hot women walking around in barely-there clothing. Very hot. Episode was slightly better than the previous one. Still needs some time to flesh out all the secondary characters. It's only 2 episodes in, so I'm not expecting to get everyone's back-story, but I would like to see exactly what Minka Kelly's role will be. So far, as the Precinct's dispatcher, she hasn't really done much. The series also needs to start working on the mythology so that there is something deeper and meaningful beyond just the 'Crime of the week' episodes. I'm sure they have that forthcoming....the sooner the better.

Meh. Very generic 'Hostage' episode that we have seen countless times over and over. It wasn't a bad episode, it just wasn't all that interesting. I don't know if it's wise for a new series to go into such familiar territory this soon when you're trying to separate yourself from other shows past and present that are out there.

It was great that they gave Mackenzie Crook something to do in this episode. A lot actually. But the "undercover drug buy to catch the drug kingpin" has been done a million times before and done a lot better. Very average episode through no fault of Crook. Still waiting to see what they do with Minka Kelly's character. The way things are playing out, I expect Almost Human to be cancelled within the next few episodes.

A killer on trial claims his innocence and there supposedly is someone else out there killing for him who just so happens to look just like him. With the world that this is set in, it painfully obvious that they were clones of him. The episode was somewhat better than last weeks and it had more to do with Minka Kelly finally getting something to do within the show. Still not enough, but it's a start.

Finally a good episode that was both entertaining on a thrill level as well as going a bit deeper into the mindset of Dorian. It was fun to see another DRN Model for him to play off of and get more insight into what makes their model tick. The bulk of the story was also good, which dealt primarily in the "Donor" organ black market. Good twist in that new recipients were basically getting modified kill switches implanted in them, thus becoming victims of extortion to keep paying them money or else meet a fatal end. The show STILL needs to do a better job of the other characters though. Really not sure why they are keeping Minka and Mackenzie relegated to such small, inactive roles.

Having a half-charged Dorian produced a bunch of funny moments. Seriously, they should definitely go down this road, but I highly doubt we will get this because in the realm of "believability" for the show, they can't have Dorian suddenly half-charged. It wouldn't make sense. Anyway, good episode that was actually good in delivering some suspense with the bomb collar's. I just wished they got a better actor to play the villain. He was beyond weak.

Meh. Ya know, I think I may be throwing in the towel on this show. Nothing against the two leads, but I'm just sick and tired of the writers continuing to neglect both Minka Kelly and Mackenzie Crook. Why bother having them on the show if you're NOT going to use them. I want to stick with the show, but each week, it's getting more frustrating in seeing very little of them.

Unbound

So, as soon as I said I was done with the show (for a lot of reasons), they (the writers) finally do a story that will build on a non-existent mythology. I just think they waited too long to give us an episode like Unbound. It's not perfect, but it's a step in the right direction and they at least gave us a couple of new characters that are interesting. The bulk of this episode is basically a Killer Robot (Gina Carano) on a war path to retrieve technology to build a bigger army totaling 500. Gina's character is kind of a poor man's Terminator, but a very agile one though. Even though her character gets obliterated at the end, she will undoubtedly return. She's a fricken' robot and she will most likely be the model of said 500 Army. The creator of the Army is played by John Larroquette. Even though his big reveal at the end was he was/is the mastermind, it was clear from the start that he was the 'Bad Guy'. Now, the series better continue with this story line and start building something bigger with it. If next weeks episode is another weak ass 'Monster of the week' story line or some boring ass sh*t, I will for sure throw in the towel.

Why am I not surprised that the show went back to the same "Crime of the Week" format again. It's as if last weeks episode never happened. So, kids are OD'ing. Booooooooooooring. I was beyond bored to tears with this one. I've seen this plot used over and over and it is never original.
