I chose to follow up Good Night, and Good Luck with J. Edgar because they overlapped one another at a certain point in American history. First time watching J. Edgar and it's what I expected from a Bio pic. I only knew about the Hoover myth and "legend" from my youth and nothing more. Never really cared to seek out exactly what made him tick and what his background was like. The movie is good in that regard. As always, I thought Leonardo DiCaprio was great in the way he tackles his roles and Clint Eastwood did a masterful job. But I do have issues with how the story is being told. I'm really not a fan of having the main character "writing" his biography with a reporter and then having the story unfold that way. I don't know why I don't like a story being told like that, I just know that I don't. I just prefer that it's told from start to finish in chronological order as it happens. The one thing they got right in correcting this minor nuisance I have is with the clever transitions between time. Very good actually. Anyway, it's worth a Rent. 4 Stars out of 5.
