Silent Movie

Ever since watching The Artist ('s-blu-rays/the-artist-(2011)/msg20586/#msg20586), I have been itching to revisit Silent Movie, one that I haven't seen in its entirety for well over 20+ years and it still is a great movie. It's beyond funny, it's timeless. The plot is simple: Funn, Bell and Eggs must find Big Movie Stars to appear in a Silent Movie that will save the Studio from a Hostile Takeover. It's not brain surgery. Anyone can follow the story on screen with no need for sound. The entire movie is a series of gags, skits and jokes with heavy emphasis on pratfalls. I use to watch this movie all the time when I was a kid and even though it's been ages since I last saw Silent Movie, it STILL works for me. Having a great cast that includes Mel Brooks, Dom DeLuise and the one and only Marty Feldman seals the deal for me. But there are a handful of big time stars that make cameos that make this a memorable flick.

One last thing, I think it's awesome that the one word of spoken dialog is by none other than Marcel Marceau. Priceless. Also be on the look out for stars like Paul Newman, Burt Reynolds, Bernadette Peters, James Caan, Sid Ceaser, Henny Youngman, Liza Minnelli and Anne Bancroft. Fans of Mel Brooks will also recognize actors that have appeared in his other films like Harold Gould and Ron Carey. I highly recommend this as a Rent if you have never seen the movie. I recommend it even if you have. It's a fun 90 minutes from start to finish.
