Is anyone surprised at how quickly the "value" of Blu-ray discs and players have dropped since it's inception? It took yeeeeeeears for regular DVD's to even make any noticeable drop in price. But as soon as Blu-rays came on the scene, they were insanely overpriced and then almost immediately, prices were more than half off and even lower to the point of just being a couple bucks more than regular DVDs.
-
I am surprised, but I'm also thankful.
The industry is really stagnating now. Especially the DVD business. Pricing for DVD and Blu-Ray has been slowly merging. In fact, some DVD's are priced higher. I can only assume to push the Blu-ray and phase out the regular DVD.

Gold Box Deal of the Day
Black Friday is starting early... keep an eye on them.
These two deals are fantastic.
Alien Anthology [Blu-ray] (2013) @ $19.99 (http://www.amazon.com/Alien-Anthology-Blu-ray-Sigourney-Weaver/dp/B001AQO3QA/ref=br_lf_m_1001421631_1_1_img?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&s=movies-tv&pf_rd_p=1626807722&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_t=1401&pf_rd_i=1001421631&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=11TPFPABVRXKWPNK9Z4T)
Prometheus (Blu-ray/ DVD + Digital Copy) (2012) @ $9.99 (http://www.amazon.com/Prometheus-Blu-ray-DVD-Digital-Copy/dp/B005LAIHY0/ref=br_lf_m_1001421631_1_2_img?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&s=movies-tv&pf_rd_p=1626807722&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_t=1401&pf_rd_i=1001421631&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=11TPFPABVRXKWPNK9Z4T)

I should hold my tongue until I get them in the mail, but now after all this time, I finally own these films. Been waiting for a deal like this.
Why is it when I'm supposed to buy Christmas gifts, I wind up getting stuff for myself?
-
So I recently scored with getting The Godfather Collection (Blu-Ray) for $16. Holy Crap.
So now I’m on the hunt for the Indiana Jones Complete Collection (Blu-Ray) for a fantastic deal. Maybe Amazon Gold Deal perhaps? Cause right now I can’t find it anywhere for a lot of $$$$$.
So if you guys keep it in back of your thoughts and see anything that comes through… I’d appreciate it.
-
Do you ever check on eBay? You won't find better deals anywhere else and sometimes you can get lucky and score a Brand New copy for next to nothing because it slips through the cracks when no one else bids on it.
-
Yep.
I now have a 'watch' on it. So I do get daily emails on that particular item.
-
You will only get a reminder when the auction is about to expire. The only way you get additional reminders is if you bid on the item and another person outbids you. The best thing to do is just sit back and watch and see how auction is progressing and try to snipe it at the last second so that no one has enough time to beat you at the end.
-
I believe my watch list is daily listing from eBay of those kinds of things I'm looking for. The email will give a snap shot of about 12 items plus a link to that search.

Still to rich for me...
-
Yikes, I doubt anyone is dumb enough to pay $600 for the set. Even at the discounted price, I wouldn't touch this. Still way too much.
-
The X-Files (Entire Series and both Movies for $88.99 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/goldbox/ref=pe_341930_116214100_pe_button/)
I already have the entire series and the first movie. This Gold Box is a great deal. Remember, these Full Season Sets were among the first EVER released on the new DVD format and cost a whopping $130.....EACH! Sh*t, how times have changed.

Amazon offers Prime members Alfred Hitch****: The Essentials Collection Limited Edition on Blu-ray Disc for $37.99 with free shipping. That's the lowest total price we could find by $17. This 5-disc collection includes Rear Window, Vertigo, North by Northwest, Psycho, and The Birds.
-
I've never used Prime, but didn't they just jack up the 1 year subscription to an enormous sum that has turned a lot of people away?
-
I'm not sure where it currently stand. Last I heard was a spinoff of the video streaming from Prime. Not sure Prime was officially jacked up.
-

I already own two different Alien Box Sets as it is. Great deal to jump on this at THAT price if you don't already own it.
-
I just might have to buy it again... just to own them twice. :P
-
I have that exact Alien box set.
Yesterday Amazon had the entire Blu_Ray series of Stargate Atlantis for 45 bucks instead of the usual 200. Snatched that right up.

This isn't about a deal per se, but it does tie into Amazon. When I was doing research for my new External Hard Drive (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/hardware/computer-disk-space/msg35012/#msg35012), I ventured into my Order Details page within my account. You know the dropdown menu where it says "Orders the last 6 months" section? Well, I always thought that Amazon only kept the last 6 months of activity on your page and after that it auto-deletes like most other sites (eBay is the one I'm pointing my finger at). In the 15 years I've shopped on Amazon, I never investigated beyond the '6 months' thing. Well, I clicked on it and discovered that Amazon actually kept EVERY single order I placed over the years and it was mind-blowing to see my very first purchase along with the price I paid for it and everything else that followed. I went through each year and looked at each item I bought. It was fun while at the same time making me shake my head at some of the things I ordered at such ridiculous prices, which in the day were actually amazing deals. But when you compare those prices to today, they are still grossly overpriced. Ack!!!!!
FYI, I'm sure this is all common knowledge about Amazon keeping all your orders on file and you have known about this for the last 15 years. D'oh!
-
I ran across that realization a little while ago when Amazon asked me to make a comment about a purchase, which somehow opened up a page of all the things I've bought. I was rather floored how much I purchase.
-
For you Amazon Prime members... It's Amazon Prime day.

Amazon has The Best Of Warner Brothers (100 films) for $75 today. (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009L0H4F4/ref=s9_acsd_bw_wf_a_dlp20258_cdl_0?tag=delt-20)
