I love Scandal. It's everything I heard and hope it would be. Well, let's take a step back a bit. I originally intended to watch this when it was first announced, but the show was competing with another series that I was already invested in. Unfortunately Scandal would have to wait. But I did keep hearing about how great the show was, but that's all I would allow myself to hear about it. As soon as talk about plot, characters and story-lines started up, I was out the door. So, it was kind of a surprise to see how much Scandal revolves around politics, more to the point, the Presidency and I couldn't be happier about it. But it is more than just another show set in the nations Capitol. A lot more.

Every character on the show, especially the legal team spearheaded by Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) is extremely interesting with a great deal of back story. They have opened up about a few of them so far in Season 1, but not all of them.....yet. Speaking of Pope, they established her character right from the get go as a fierce go-getter that gets sh*t done, almost robotic like and that she isn't human. And yet, from Episode 1, her character has plenty of chinks in her Armour, immediately making her very likable. At least for me.

The one thing Scandal has going for itself is the writing. In a word, it's frickin' awesome and so far, there has always been one major monologue spoken by different characters that will be the envy of every writer out there. It's masterclass stuff and ones actors would love to recite themselves. I can't recommend this more highly than to say this is a must-Buy to add to your DVD Library. I will definitely be picking this up eventually. The only downside to Season 1 is that it's only 7 episodes, which I had no idea about it being so short. I guess it was a mid-season replacement.

Anyway, I can't wait to get my hands on Season 2 because they leave you with a cliffhanger that has you begging to see what Quinn Perkins (Katie Lowes) has to say. Also love the musical score used throughout the season to underscore a lot of scenes. If they have a 'Music from Scandal' soundtrack on CD, I absolutely will be buying that as well. Along with Washington and Lowes, this awesome cast includes Columbus Short, Darby Stanchfield, Guillermo Díaz, Tony Goldwyn and  Henry Ian Cusick.
