How long has it been since I've seen Shakespeare in Love? Well, for starters, I totally forgot how many  n u d e  scenes there were of Gwyneth Paltrow. Yowza! I totally forgot that Ben Affleck was in this as well, and I totally forgot how good the movie really is. And since it has been at least 10 years since I last watched this, I had no idea that Jim Carter was even in this. Sure, when I saw him in the movie tonight, I remembered the character very well. But ever since I started watching Downton Abbey, I have been trying to place his face, trying in vain to remember where I had seen him before. Now I know.

All the actors in this are great including Joseph Fiennes, Geoffrey Rush and Tom Wilkinson. But it is Judi Dench who steals the movie as Queen Elizabeth. Yes, I too forgot she was in this as well. This is definitely worth a Rent. With all that out of the way, I do have to address the notion that this is truly the Best Picture of the year when it came out. In a word....No. Absolutely not. Saving Private Ryan was and still is the movie that should have won. I still believe that to this day.

One last thing, the music keeps throwing me for a loop because it keeps reminding me of George Lucas In Love, which I have seen more than Shakespeare. So, I get it in my head that they are stealing the music from Lucas. Ha.

I tried to stream this and this sucker was full frame.  Screw that.  So I haven't gotten around to renting the blu-ray SO... I've actually never seen this one.  I know, I know. Secret shame.

I think you'll enjoy it quite a bit. There are a lot of inside jokes. Some are obvious and some take a few seconds to recognize them if you don't know the sayings / catch phrases.

Well, considering my sister and I had an impromptu conversation about Shakespeare in the car I'd think there's a pretty good chance of that.

I wonder how this might work as a double feature alongside "Anonymous."
