Even though I am a huge fan of Taken and would gladly take a sequel, doubts began creeping into my mind when I heard that they were in fact moving forward with another installment. The thing that was first and foremost in my mind was just how are they going to do this and not basically lift the plot from the first one? Is Kim really going to get kidnapped again, sending Bryan out for another manhunt to find those responsible? Yes.....and no.

Even though a good chunk of Taken 2 is basically the same as the first one, I think they did a good job by switching it up enough to keep me engaged. For starters, I think this is definitely a logical way to continue to the series. Even though I never saw the trailer prior to seeing this one, I figured it would be a Albanian Revenge plot and sure enough, it's exactly that. Instead of kidnapping Kim this time around, it's Bryan ad Lennie that are in harms way. I really liked that he uses Kim as his proxy by guiding her every step of the way until she is able to track him down. This made for a very entertaining chunk of the film. After that, the movie does go into very familiar territory when Bryan has to track down and rescue Lennie.....again. The downside is that the set pieces just weren't as good as the first time around.

I did like the joke how Kim has already failed her drivers test twist, but in the mist of trying to escape the bad guys, she suddenly takes on NASCAR driving skills. I knew they would end the movie with her finally passing her test and getting her license. As soon as they mentioned the info about her failing twice, I KNEW exactly what would eventually happen. It played out exactly the way I envisioned it.

I still very much liked the sequel and definitely can recommend this one as a Rent for sure. As for the news of Taken 3, the ending of this movie pretty much screams that there will indeed be a third installment. The one bad thing about it is that we already know that it will most likely be a carbon copy of Taken 2. Will I still see Taken 3? Of course, I'm just not expecting anything beyond what we have gotten so far. As long as it entertains, I think it could be successful.
