Any outstanding things we should be looking for?

When it comes to individual athletes, I will of course be following what Shaun White does. Beyond that, it's wide open. I'm surprised that NBC hasn't bombarded us with more promo profiles of 'stars to be' to get fans worked up in who we should be looking out for since a lot of previous stars aren't returning. A lot of the stars that I always had fun watching and looking forward to are gone now as they are too "old". No Apolo Ohno anymore. Bummer. But be on the lookout for Jennifer Rodriguez and Heather Richardson in speed skating.

Julia Mancuso is vet that I'm pulling for as well as Bode Miller now that he has gotten his sh*t together and is not boozing it up anymore. Lindsey Vonn is another vet too to keep an eye on. Mikaela Shiffrin in skiing too. Sarah Hendrickson in Ski Jumping. I will of course be watching as many different sports as I can. Even Curling kicks ass!  ;D

I'm still only seeing a few profile spots here and there and half of them belong to Shaun White. Just baffling at how NBC is handling this. ???

Olympic Terror Threat in Russia

I just have a really bad feeling that something big is going to happen at the Olympics. I have no faith in Putin getting his sh*t together to protect the athletes.

Yea, there is waaaaaay to much going on, in and around. And this is the stuff they are reporting. Think of all the stuff they are not telling us.

Terror Fears Keep American Olympian's Family Home

Oh brother. So a 'Black Widow' managed to sneak into the Olympic Zone? Yeah, this is very encouraging. Not. Putin's ego will never allow him to accept any help from Obama. That's why I fear this is going to be a huge disaster.

my wife will have it on.  I really haven't followed the Olympics since I was a kid.  Chip knows I watch almost no TV...so unfortunately...odds are I will only catch little bits of this when walking through the living room.  I do like the Winter Olympics a little better I think...something about the snow and events...they seem really unbelievable and far removed for a kid who grew up about 1 mile from the beach and has only seen snow in person a small handful of times/

enjoy it!

For my own benefit so that I don't forget, I gotta post that along with NBC, you can get game coverage on CNBC, MSNBC, and USA Network as well.

I really liked the Opening Ceremony. Is it the best ever? Nope. But it was very entertaining and I actually liked seeing the history of Russia, which is something I didn't expect to enjoy. The lighting of the cauldron was damn cool. The build up to THE moment was pitch perfect. I was really impressed with the video projection to tell their story. It just looked really good. With that said......Let the games begin!!!!!!!!!!!

WTF NBC?

Russia's anti-gay laws have been a major focus in the lead-up to the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, and during his address at today's opening ceremony IOC president Thomas Bach made a strong statement against "any form of discrimination" and in favor of tolerance. Viewers worldwide heard the statement; NBC viewers in the U.S. did not, because the network edited it out.

I know we are only 3 days into the games, but it feels 'off' for whatever reason. I think it has to do with the scheduling as well as lack of 'Stars' from previous years. I did like the Men's Slopestyle. But the rest of it hasn't caught my attention like in years past. I know the big events are forthcoming, but these first 3 days have been lackluster for the most part.

Shaun White's Big Upset Loss

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tcc5-0oBvOg

THIS is the one that I have been waiting for all week. This is the event that I look forward to every Winter Olympics. It was by far the most exciting event thus far this Olympics and the most disappointing. I'm stunned that Shaun didn't even get in the Top 3. I was hopeful he would pull it out and get the Gold....but to not even get a Bronze.....sucks. Horrible, sh*tty course. F*ck!

What the f*ck is going on? Shani Davis and Julia Mancuso both are a bust. Neither got a medal today. To be fair though, Julia did win a Bronze a couple of days ago. But her Gold Event was today. Didn't happen. Sigh.

Well, at least the Women's Half Pipe delivered big. Kaitlyn Farrington grabs the Gold and Kelly Clark takes the Bronze.

USA comes up BIG in the Men's Ski Slopestyle as we sweep all the medals, grabbing the Gold, Silver and Bronze. What a fun Event to watch. The moves on display was beyond breathtaking. Exhilarating to say the least!! Awesome!

Just got finished with watching Men's Hockey (Team USA vs Team Russia) this morning and sh*t, that was f*cking awesome and definitely nerve-wracking!! I'm not what you would call a hockey fan. I just don't have the opportunity to watch NHL games because San Diego doesn't have a pro team, so there's really no one to cheer for. The only time I ever watch hockey is during the Winter Olympics and this game in particular was worth the wait as we win 3-2. The shoot-out was sweet. Oshie was money.

Wow, Russia just got BOUNCED by Finland in Hockey. Shocking. I was expecting them to get it together and make a run where they would face Team USA in the Gold Medal round. Well, they are out, leaving us a better shot at getting the Gold.

Watching the Women's US Hockey Team within arms length of getting the Gold collapse was brutal. I would rather have had Team US blown out of the water instead of have to deal with what happened today. How can US be up 2-0 with 7 minutes left in the game and play a dominating game all of the sudden let Canada score 2 goals, the second with less than a minute to go? Once it went to OT, I knew it was all over. Sigh. Brutal.

Well, the Winter Olympics competition is officially over. Even though I watched a good chunk of it, this one was weak in a lot of areas. It just didn't have the 'It' factor the past 3-4 WO had. Lack of "Big Name" athletes did hurt it somewhat. The broadcast themselves left a lot to be desired. Did not like how things were scheduled.

Anyway, watching Nancy & Tonya documentary.....waiting for the Closing Ceremonies to get started.
Title: Re: Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics

The Closing ceremony was pretty good. I was damn impress by those oversize (i,e. HUGE animatronic Bear, Rabbit, etc...). Seriously, that was some amazing technology for something that BIG to exhibit emotion. The facial animation.....wow. But as great as that was, there was one particular moment that just gave me the most awesome hair-raising moment I've ever witness during any Closing ceremony. By now we all know about the snafu that stood out during the Opening ceremony (referring to the Snowflakes into the Olympic Rings and how the 5th didn't work). Well, during the Closing, there was a callback to that moment and instead of using tech for this one, they were using thousands of dances to mimic that "disaster" be recreating everything that had happened. It got a big laugh as it was still "not working". But just as the music hits a crescendo, BAM! The Snowflake expands into the Ring and the crowd reaction to it was ELECTRIC. The hair on my amrs and neck stood up like never before. What an awesome moment. I wish there was a video to post, but all of them have been taken down.
