Bad News Bears is literally a scene for scene carbon copy of the Original (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/dvd's-blu-rays/the-bad-news-bears-(1976)/msg18173/#msg18173) and it comes nowhere near that classic. It's a timeless classic and you just don't go messing with perfection. This Remake isn't as bad as I thought it would be, but it's not great either. It's a serviceable flick for what it is. What it isn't is funny. Most of the "jokes" land like a lead balloon. Given that this is a modern day remake, they of course updated the language and attitude to reflect what it's like to be a kid in and out of Little League. The problem is that none of the kids are memorable in anyway shape or form and I'd bet top dollar that you will never hear of them ever again, be it in another movie or TV show. I will only recommend this as a Rent to someone that has already seen the original Bad News Bears and is curious to see how the remake plays out. If you have never seen the classic, then yeah, I would say Skip this one and just pick up the one that still hits a home run for me every time. One last thing, Billy Bob Thornton is NO Walter Matthau and Greg Kinnear is NO Vic Marrow.
