Wow. Two very disappointing Dwayne Johnson movies in less than 3 days. Never thought I'd be saying that at all. I did not like Pain & Gain at all. It flat out sucks. Why does Michael Bay make it so damn easy to hate him? Why does he continue to produce garbage? Even when he tries to do "something different", which Pain & Gain is aiming for, it's still sh*t. Look, he is not a good director. He can't tell a story to save his life, The Rock (the movie, not the wrestler that is) being the exception. He is all flash, and no substance. There is a laundry list of 'shots' that he HAS to have in any contemporary movie he makes. Strippers. Check. Night Club. Check. Birds Eye View of Airplane flying over character. Check. 360 Degree pan around Main Character. Check. You get the idea.

He got his start in music videos and I think he should just quit Hollywood and go back to directing 3 minute videos because that's all his "movies" are these days....'$200 Million Theatrical Music Videos'. What a wasted cast that included Johnson, Mark Wahlberg and Tony Shalhoub. Skip this piece of sh*t movie. I'm shocked that even I made it through this one to the end. But it didn't come without consequences......I feel dumber for having watched it.

With that out of the way, props for the Kurt Angle cameo and for dropping Dexter's (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/dvd's-blu-rays/dexter-(season-1-2006)/msg5275/#msg5275) condo into the movie. I can only imagine what kind of reaction both of these got in the theaters when they presented themselves.

You know, it was funny seeing Boogie Nights after this because once we get into the 80s and Marky Mark starts taking a ton of drugs, I could totally see that dude devolving into the 'roid-happy d-bag from Pain & Gain.

Not a great movie, but the most Michael Bay movie of anything M Bay's done since probably the start of Transformers, and I love that the movie is packed with character actors like Tony Shalhoub and Rob Corrdry.

I thought that Mark's character in this one was a direct descendant of Boogie Nights. He played him exactly the same which I did think was somewhat funny. But the movie itself, just did not like it.

It's not that I didn't like it. It just didn't do much for me. I'm trying to remember it quite frankly. I do remember thinking Dwayne is trying new stuff character wise and that's noble. But at the end of the day, I could go without this.
